  • Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev: Andre Ward Will Be Much Better For Our Fight

As long as he keeps winning, Sergey Kovalev gets to experience the best of both worlds for his next two starts. The unbeaten, unified light heavyweight titlist heads home to his birth land of Russia for a July 11 showdown with Top 10 contender Isaac Chilemba. The bout - which will mark Kovalev's eighth defense of at least one light heavyweight title - also serves as his first fight in his birth country since Dec. '11, with the show taking place in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Ward will taste the power of the true LHW champ! He won't like it ! Boone put him down and the end of the round saved him but he won't be saved when the Krusher nails him.

Maybe he will wished he hadn't run from GGG !

I'd love to see Ward fight shabranskyy or Gonzalez. If he chooses to end another Cuban I'll need to nickname Ward to the Cuban slayer!

Sergei saying the right things. Hard not to respect the guy. Kovalev - Ward is THE fight of 2016.

I've criticized him for being classless in the past but he's behaved like a total pro in regards to the Ward fight. No taunting or big talk via the media. It's not like this is a Mayweather/Berto where one guy needs to be bolstered to sell the fight. Yet, Sergei speaks about this one like a true gentleman, as does Andre. For me, this adds tremendous value and anticipation for November!

I think Ward will have to be better if he wants to beat Kovalev. It's an interesting fight for sure!

Second this ^. He had nothing but respect for Bhops either - and it seems like that is kinda mutual, Hopkins saying he now regards him as a friend. The **** he's given to Pascal, Stevenson, Sillakh or Young seems to arise from his perception (rightly or wrongly) that they've overstepped some mark or behaved in a way he dislikes. Kovalev comes across as a pretty straight shooter to me - if he doesn't like you he ain't coy about letting you know.
