Oh yea sure when you start out I'm sure most have child-like or less $$$ reasons motivating their love of the sport. And some may keep that for awhile as they gain ground in the pro game I imagine.

But nah there are not easier ways for most people to make the yearly income to millions they can make in boxing in one night after 6-12 weeks of prep. Floyd woulda probably been shot dead in Grand Rapids, Michigan if he wasn't a boxer or if he made it beyond childhood/young adult hood he might be assistant manager at some fast food joint best case. And Manny would probably still be begging in the streets or found some modest career or hustle to take care of himself & his family if not for boxing. Neither of these cats were on the road to becoming the next Elon Musk or even the next entrepreneur or small business owner in their city & neither are most boxers.

There's nothing "child-like" about having reasons for loving something beyond just the money. It's pretty much the opposite, where you have to have a pretty immature mind not to be able to grasp that. Saying Floyd ducked Manny is like saying GGG ducked Sergio, Canelo and Cotto. I get it, since Manny didn't win post anything that you think takes away from Floyd's career or minimizes his greatness.

You are correct, history is set in stone. Manny fought JMM after refusing the $40 mil, no ppv offer. Instead of making $40 mil to lose 10-2, he took $28 mil (with the bulk of the ppv) to get KTFO!

I guess that was smart because he eventually got almost $100 mil to lose 10-2.
