I like this fight. No criticism from me. ggg is looking to graduate from his prospect level of opposition. All kudos go his way.

Haymon doesn't have to bid $5m for Jacobs; he simply has to bid more than K2 is willing to bid for Golovkin. Not sure if the WBA rules for "super"/regular are any different, but a bid split for a regular mandatory is 75/25.

Is K2 ready to bid $3m for Golovkin-Jacobs ($2.25m to Golovkin, $750k to Jacobs)? Because Lou DiBella ended up paying out $3m for the Jacobs-Quillin fight(likely about $4m to finance the full fight card) and everyone involved was cool with it.

The number likely won't get to $5m but, not unlike Yvon Michel in Montreal, Lou DiBella can look at the potential revenues and bid accordingly (Barclays Center live gate for two fighters known in New York, UK TV rights, TV rights for the rest of Europe, sponsors for the fight, the interest that could be drum up for the fight on SHOPPV, etc), undergirded by the understanding that his breakeven point is lower.

K2's not getting the fight for cheap, lol.

Difference is that, if the process blows up now, Golovkin would have to leave his WBA super title behind, undoing the main marketing push of his entire rationale for ducking certain fights.

Golovkin will knock him out, but it would be the first time I'm excited for a Golovkin fight since Golovkin-Murray. Hopefully we get to see it this year.

only dangerous for jacobs. ggg took lemieux's power very well and lemieux is a far bigger puncher than jacobs.

i can easily see jacob being knocked down or ko'ed from a ggg power jab. jacob's chin and defense isn't very good at all.

Can Haymon put a fight on HBO? Can GGG fight off HBO?

EDIT: Oh wait, Wade was an Al Haymon fighter. And I think GGG is exclusive to HBO. I hope Haymon will agree to put this one on HBO and not try to buy GGG's title.
Dominic Wade got paid out a disclosed $500k to head over to HBO and fight as Golovkin's mandatory.

If K2 comes with the proper money, Haymon's not going to be an impediment to the fight (with Jacobs having just gotten a disclosed $1.5m to fight Quillin at Barclays Center, the starting point for a negotiation for Golovkin-Jacobs in New York is pretty well understood).

If K2 ****s around with the money, Haymon has no qualms with pulling K2's card and punking them (DiBella promoting the fight, Barclays Center hosting Jacobs, Showtime airing the fight, and international TV interest makes for a good amount of revenue to work from)

Fight is going to be on HBOPPV or SHOPPV; there's no logical way to expect Haymon committing the easily $4m it's likely going to take to stage Golovkin-Jacobs on PBC.

I hope it happens next. If not Jacobs than Saunders (just fight those 2 and see if Golden Boy will give him Canelo and then move up before it is too late).

If he moves up to face Ramirez after not fighting the lineal champ in Ward I would lose a lot of respect for him.
I don't understand this ^. A few people have said it . and yeah I understand the view that it's hypocritical (even if I feel the situation is more nuanced than that) - but how on the one hand can people slate Golovkin for his level of opposition then in the next breath criticize him for moving up to fight a SMW champion? I want to see him step up and I see Zurdo as a step in the right direction. Does not fighting Ward mean that he should stagnate at 160 forever so as not to be accused of hypocrisy?

Now GGG haters get what they want, they start hoping for purse bid issues.

K2 won't have to vacate you dumbie, they will get most of the purse, so they can bid whatever the **** they need to.
