if he's a natrual southpaw then the switch shouldnt pose him any technical problems, and he should already know how to take advantage of being a southpaw, however generally switching is only a good idea to take someone by surprise, and he's just announced it to the press, so he aint gonna catch no one off guard when he comes out as a southpaw
