Cotto will fight Corley as a southpaw

I just read a report in El Nuevo Dia (PR newspaper) where they say that Cotto is only training as a southpaw for this fight and will fight Chop-Chop as a southpaw (his natural stance before being converted in the amateurs). They expect this to be the easiest way for Cotto to administer his left hand, now in the form of a cross instead of a hook, to make Corley feel his power.

Will it work? I'm anxious to find out!

Edit: He is also training with only southpaws and Jr. Middleweights at that. I think this is a very positive thing for him and should allow him to assimilate Chop-Chop's power with ease.

a latino south-paw, thats like a fuqqen novelty. who was the last one to successfully fight that way?

i know that cotto fights both ways, but really, who was the last great latino southpaw?

Wow this is odd news. I'm anxious to see how it'll work out for him. He's been rolling with his conventional style but if he's able to switch it up successfully it really says a lot about his versatility. Chop's not one to play around with.

          Hector "Macho" Camacho

          Anywho...
Cotto isn't going to look impressive as a southpaw against Chop Chop, unless of course Corley doesn't know how to fight southpaws well.

Very interesting if it turns out to be true. Cotto would have to be very disciplined if he is to mantain the southpaw stance the whole fight.

              Yup, ol' Camacho.

Well, Chop did lose against Zab (a southpaw).

That was a close fight. Probably Corley's best performance in a losing effort if you compare it to the Mayweather fight..

If he's doing this then he must think Chop is a joke. You dont do stuff like this against someone you respect. Maybe Cotto figures that when he fights the Elite he can keep them off balance by switching styles or he thinks someone like Floyd will have problems with southpaws. Either way I think it's a mistake. Why change what you have been so good at
