No ***ing way the Promoter should be making more than the fighter. When your Promoter is staying in business off of their fighters Purse and not based on them doing events on their own and making money from the Gate and Endorsements or whatever, that is a PROBLEM and yes Fighters will get ROBBED in situations like that.

Banner Promoters/Star Boxing I don't remember them ever having a Boxing event on their own. Usually they just squeeze their fighters on other peoples card or they match them up tough like they been doing Algeiri and let other promoters pay their fighters and they get a cut from that that sucks!

Exactly. Here is basically a manager, masquerading as a promoter, and taking a bigger piece of the pie. Yet there are people out there complaining about Al Haymon for doing the opposite and he takes 15%. Hell even uncle Bob's 27% makes him look decent, and he only takes that when one of his fighters fight on another promoters card.

Can't really fault the promoter here, this is like the music business when those musicians are desperate for a break and then tend to sign their lives away. Algieri should not be signing a contract here he ends up paying everyone from the cutman to the dinner lady, you have got to be smarter at the business end of a boxing deal because you are the one getting in the ring and getting hit in the head. But why is the promoter getting 50% of his money when he was not the lead promoter?

That's why I'm laughing at these clowns like Mikey and Rios leaving Arum. Rios has been getting an average of no less than $800K for his fights. He got a guarantee of $4 million in the Pac fight.
I wouldn't brag about being with Top Rank when they're forced to put Crawford vs Postol on ppv, don't even televise Donaire anymore and can't afford to put on Lomachenko vs Walters

Thats this business. Its the ugly side nobody wants to talk about. Chris Algeri is a good guy man and i really like him as a personality. He needs just one signature win to help him ride off into the sunset and do something like commentating because he's a smart dude who doesn't need to get made to be an example and lose his life

And allow himself to get ripped off with your lawyer present , then that's on Chris. He's been in the biz with bigger fights to know this.

Whole article is good, but here are some of the facts. And LOL at this f#cking criminal being open to extend Chris' contract beyond 2018 & then tell him the purse % he's taking. This is why I think promoters are the 2nd biggest problem in the sport only to alphabet groups.
                  WTF?

So Algieri doesn't have to be told what percentage of the total pot his payment represents....until the weigh in?

That seems like a horrible contract. He should know long before that.

LOLwut. Of course you can fault the promoter. He's a piece of **** whos probably hustling more boxers then Algieri. Anyone on his roster should be looking into their own contracts with Joe DeGuardia.

This guy should be ran outta the business. Just cuz you can take advantage of guys less business savvy then you don't make you a okay guy who's beyond reproach. "I'm not a bad guy, that other guy is just ******". LOL.

Algieri might have been expecting that Haymon would hand over $1.5 million.
