Algieri isn't a Haymon-managed fighter. His current promoter is terrible. He should have left when he had the chance.

It was not a joint promotion. Deguardia only got an "in association with" credit as a courtesy. It was a PBC event, promoted by Dibella
so is he saying that joe was not upfront about the money that he had? how muck of the 650 do you feel that algieri should get?

Originally posted by Crazylegs77 View PostThats pretty awful 50% to the promoter. Algieri, after taxed and paying for camp and trainer must be walking away with very little. What is surprising is this issue was not addressed before the contract was signed. Wouldnt shock me if his promoter offered his lawyer a piece of the action to gloss over the details ad convince Algieri to sign. Either way no promoter deserves 50%. Fighters are the ones putting in the risk and work, their careers can be fleeting. Promoters will always find someone else to take profit on.

Originally posted by aboutfkntime View PostWho cares Joe, you pocketed 50% you weasel. That's fine, you got your payday..... now go find another fighter, weasel. You don't get to rip-off smart people twice.
What's really sick is, this DeGuardia weasel saying he basically can still sleep well at night after the ripoff b.s. he pulls. I hope the word gets out in a big way. Pathetic sheetz like him, Don King, some others... they need to be ran outta town on a rail. POS worthless azzholeoz.

This is complete bull****. Why doesn't come in and try to help clean up boxing? It's not right that this do nothing ******* can take 50% of the fighter's purse while the fighter pays off all the expense for his camp with his portion.
Boxing is the most regressive sport in the world it seems. Fighters at the smaller end barely make a thing and have to split most of their purse with their promoters/manager. Then once you start making Mayweather money, you just cut them a check for a fixed amount.

People having a go at Algieri are totally missing the point. Boxers are still getting ripped off and it's disgustng. How can a promoter walk away with more than the fighter. This is wrong wrong wrong. The Ali act must protect fighters against this.

Im sure a guy like him wouldnt be saying things without a reason. Also he should get more than 50% as he taken on a very tough challenge. Anyway hope it gets sorted out as after that fight he needs to think hard about his next steps.
