Duran would have broken Floyd in half, that's how overrated he was.

At his best he was a monster. OK he had 100 fights so there maybe the odd day he was off, it happens.
Msaybe fought when he wasn't in pbest shape so u lose sometimes that's no big deal.
But he'd beat Floyd at his best, until Floyd poroives otherwise. Fight GGG, and show us GGG can't ko you so why would Duran!

I grew up watching him, I grew up watching all those guys as a kid, and when Duran quit like that everyone knew he got paid off and threw that fight. He lost all credibility, Duran is no quitter and to give up and not give an actual reason for why? Dude took some money to lose.
Also if Chavez Sr and Duran both fight at 140 pounds, in their primes, I would favor Chavez Sr.
Duran reminds me of Shane Mosley in the sense that they were great lightweights, but get praised for fighting everyone even if they lose to those greats.
If Duran had never quit against Leonard the way he did without taking any damage, people wouldn't have mixed feelings on him. Its weird how young some of you guys are, I remember the No Mas fight and Duran was getting hammered, he was a pariah, people were saying he got paid off, it was a huge controversy and for those of you alive or old enough to remember that fight ruined his legacy.

Duran still green dethroned hall of fame boxer Ken Buchanan. Buchanan was a beautiful boxer with an ATG jab and tough as hell. Duran also beat Esteban Dejesus twice after losing the first fight. De Jesus was brilliant and also a hall of famer. Both Buchanan and De Jesus were in their prime when Duran beat them.
Duran had a few bouts at welterweight before facing Leonard beating Hall of fame boxer Carlos Palomino. Palomino was tough as nails and a brilliant inside fighter. Duran took him to school
Duran had 71 fights before he stepped up to face Leonard. Only losing one of them. Duran was already a great before he fought Leonard. After he stepped out of lightweight Duran was past his best and fighting much bigger men who also became greats. He beat the 2nd best welterweight of all time. He ran arguably the greatest ever middleweight ever close, he was up on the cards after 12 vs Hagler. Hagler was in his absolute prime as well. Duran even had no right giving master boxer Benitez a tough fight. Old fat Duran defied all the odds by beating the **** out of hot prospect Davie Moore and beating Monster middleweight Iran Barkley. Barkley had previously knocked out Tommy Hearns twice before facing Duran. This is the equivalent of Floyd beating GGG after GGG sparked a future ATG twice which isn't going to happen. Barkley went on to fight at light heavy ffs.
The only boxer to beat the **** out of Duran was Tommy Hearns but he was a freak of nature in those days .

Check out my thread on it in the history section if you're bored. A lot of back and forth. Obviously the vast majority disagreed which was expected.

But Toney's not a good example because he's one of the most overrated fighters I've seen.
