what will it take to be the new greatest of all time

What is the greatest of all time ? The people that transcended the sport in which they played. You can't think basketball without Michael Jordan, football without Rice and baseball without Ruth. Boxing has had more then it's fair share of people that seem to stand out, but what does it take to be the G.O.A.T ? Many times have we seen a man with all the flash and all the skill but for some reason falls short,So who's next how can someone in your eyes overtake the thrown from a Ali or Robinson ? Will he need to end his career 50-0 50 ko's ? Is it only a matter of his competition ? What does it take to be great ???

LeBron James will be remembered as the greatest before he's through just like Floyd Mayweather will. We have the benefit of living in an era when the best of the best in almost every sport will be topped by someone else.

according to diego fuego...Mayweather will top Robinson, which will never happen. Anyway,

The greatest. What does it take to the be greatest on paper.

thats something to talk about. im gonna start with,

        Amateur background (important)

good chin, but is careful and not overly aggressive. Feels opponent out to avoid takin early punishment(Long prime, take less punches)

great power(have more of a chance at old age)

        loads of stamina

        technically sharp

mentally strong, with a big will to win

        excellent reflexes

        excellent jab

excellent body puncher (in case whoever he's fighting wants to close the gap **With good combination ability, finish off the combo with hooks to the head or a cross to the head))

        mixes his shots well

k ill stop talkin about julio...

Basically prove it in the ring and out of the ring.
If a champ retires undefeated then he hasn't fought everybody, it's how you rebound from a loss and prove you're the better man, like Ali did.

You don't have to lose to be considered the greatest. By that logic, Mayweather has to go to middleweight and find someone who can beat him. That's ****** AND dangerous. If Mayweather beats DLH, Margarito, Hatton, and the middleweight champion, you can't tell me he isn't the best that ever did it.

you have to transcend the sport itself like ali

ali was unique he was singular there will never be another like him

he was also a damn fine boxer who's resume is unmatched

This is gonna sound lame; but we'll know it when we see it. It's gonna take more than flash and natural talent, more than skill and heart. It's going to take someone with all of the above, plus that little kick of charisma, and a supporting cast to rival the fab 4 of the 80s and the heavyweight division of the 70's. To be the GOAT, there's a whole chemistry experiment required and one man cannot do it alone..he must have those around him good enough to test him and bring out the real warrior within...then, he must succeed against all odds. That is what it takes...or at least the best way I know to describe it.

What I'm saying is, it secures your place in history, knowing that you can overcome that loss and correct it, Ali wouldn't be the man he's thought of today if he didn't comeback and beat Frazier, Norton and Spinks.. and I doubt Leonard would if he didnt have the legendary fights with Duran.

dude, if Ali never lost to Frazier, Norton, and Spinks, he would be considered the greatest of all time over Robinson.
