Besides, what Roach said doesn't counter the very immediately noteworthy differences between Algieri/Provo or Pac compared with Algieri/Khan, Bone or Spence in terms of how Algieri approached the fights. Not to take away from Spence's impressive showing, but Algieri's newer aggressive style undoubtedly played a role in the stoppage.
Whatever happened in the Spence-Algieri fight doesn't change what happened in the Pacquiao-Algieri fight and the reason Pacquiao didn't stop him. He didn't cut off the ring.

Experts and fans have been saying Pacquiao couldn't cut off the ring way before he fought Algieri, it's not a new thing, it's one of his flaws.

if you ever actually boxed before then you would know its easier said than done.

TS is right. spence is true full fledged welterweight.

pacquiao is on his what 7th 8th weight class? that's even tho algieri lacks power, they still made him come at a catchweight due to his size.

this is why i dont really critique pacquiao for the catchweights as oppose to someone like canelo who is insisting on a catchweight against GGG despite rehydrating to damn near light heavyweight and has basically been in the same division his entire career.

Not my reasoning, but you're determined to turn it into a Mayweather-Pacquiao thread so lets save everyones time and go to where it always ends up. Pac turds always bring up Mayweather when they get hurt feelings.

Pacquiao sometimes feels sorry for guys he is beating the **** out and doesn't go all out for the kill. Spence has no mercy and a highly developed killer instinct. He is a great finisher with fast, hard accurate punches and a master body puncher. Spence is 26 years old so he isn't a growing boy. He is a fully grown powerful man. He very well may continue fighting as a welterweight for years. As long as he makes weight he is doing nothing wrong. I'm a big Spence fan and don't think anybody in his weight class is going to beat him.

Pacquiao's other problem is that he's been an awful finisher since the Cotto fight. He's dropped multiple opponents but has failed to finish them off. When Spence gets you hurt, he will stop you. He's one of the best finishers around the weight class. His ring cutting ability is apart of that.

That and his punch selection is better than Pacquiao's which contributes to his finishing ability. Pacquiao will just spam a bunch of 1-2 if he has you hurt. We all saw his pitiful flurry he threw at Mayweather when Floyd was laid up on the ropes. Spence will mix it up to the head, body and loops his shots around your guard while splitting your guard with uppercuts.

Man that's one thing I love about Spence. He has a little streak of psychopathy in him. He enjoys hurting people. They showed him the replay of him brutally knocking out Algieri and he just started laughing. You can see it in the way he fights. He's just eager to keep coming forward and punching. When his opponent reaches to touch gloves with him, he just ignores them and proceeds to punch them.

Then there was that quote from last year after his fight with Vargas where he says he's never concerned with going rounds and carrying an opponent to get rounds in. He just wants to end it as quick as possible. It's also why he thrived so well in sparring with Mayweather. He didn't step down like most people would.
