  • Comments Thread For: IBF Outlines Anthony Joshua Mandatory Defense Timeline

London’s Anthony Joshua ripped the IBF heavyweight title away from America’s Charles Martin earlier this month to enter the world title fray.

Joshua moved to 16-0 (16) courtesy of the second-round KO win and is now assessing his options ahead of a voluntary defence at London's O2 Arena on June 25, but he also has a stiff mandatory test looming in the form of either Joseph Parker, Carlos Takam, Kubrat Pulev or Dereck Chisora.

I'd love for Parker to be mandated.

Looks like Parker will have to go through Takam and Pulev before being mandated to fight Joshua. Good, he needs as much big fight experience as possible. No use in fighting D level guys anymore, you don't learn from fights like that as much as you do from fighting solid guys like Takam and Pulev.

Joshua is not gonna be bothered by Parker or any other fighter in the division and by should he be....should be a great fight between two unbeaten heavyweights and who ever comes in on top will take over the division......

Parker's resume could be better than Joshua's by the time of their fight, assuming they both keep winning obviously.

Unless Joshua loses to somebody who can actually take him rounds.

Cant complain if Josh passes on Parker for the Haye and Fury fights.

Im sure if Parker keeps winning he will get his shot at one of the top dogs soon enough

Well yeah if he doesnt get a unification with someone then he will have to fight Parker eventually (if he keeps winning).

Pretty sure he will fight Fury first though, in which case, should he win, he wouldn't need the IBF belt anymore and would be free to fight who he wanted.

"Ironically, Joshua is in the same position Wilder was in when he first fought for the title as AJ has yet to do the distance so his first distance fight will be a 12 rounder"
How is that ironic? I guess it's somewhat coincidental, at most. It's usually Yanks who don't understand the meaning of the word but here on BS it's the Brit writer mangling the shit out of our language again.
