Can Anthony Joshua fight in the USA?

Doesn't he have a criminal conviction here in the UK relating to drug dealing?

I know Martin Murray cannot fight in USA due to a conviction of his a while ago and had to cancel a fight with Chavez Jr because of it.

He doesn't have a criminal conviction. He has a ASBO and was given excempt from conviction because of boxing if I remember correctly.

Just read he got a community service order for possession. I don't think it's counted as a criminal conviction and even if so, it's not a prison sentence or serious offence so he should be fine going into the states.

I saw him hanging around Cuba last year, that might lead to bigger issues than possession of cannabis

I believe anyone with a drug conviction can be denied entry into the US potentially. If they do or don't allow him entry to fight is a valid question. Not sure all the factors involved in that.

Does anyone know if he's visited the US, for a fight or other reasons, in the past? That'd probably go a long way to speculating if its a problem for him or not.

True. He's got almost a million PPV buys to his name already & hasn't beaten a legit top ten guy yet. I have a hard time saying Martin was a top ten guy despite a W over Glazkov & a title even though I know some had him ranked that high, in hindsight & in foresight to that fight going down.

Imagine the numbers when there is a Joshua vs a legit top ten guy fight or Joshua vs another title holder fight. He'll be even bigger. But I'd say it only helps build his brand to fight in the US or other places potentially so while he doesn't need to do it its only going to broaden his popularity.

He doesn't 'need' to. But if he could capture the imagination of the American public he certainly would want to.

If Wilder and Fury both win their next fights then those are two monster events that are coming down the track for AJ. And if Wilder can make enough noise then it would be absolutely worth his while to fight in Vegas.

A million PPVS at $25 a pop. Not the same as selling them for $60-$100 each in the US.

Very true. Plus the US population is 5x bigger than the UK population.

PPV Star in the US>PPV Star in the UK.

Fighting Stateside seems to be big part of his plans. He's started taking a night course in Spanish as a respectful gesture towards boxing's Mexican fanbase. He rightly thinks that will go down well when he eventuality fights in America.
