Veteran official Kenny Bayless has been named as the referee for the May 7 middleweight championship between defending champ Saul Canelo' Alvarez and welterweight contender Amir Khan. The scheduled 12-round bout which will be contested at Alvarez' preferred maximum catchweight of 155-pounds headlines an HBO Pay-Per-View event live at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Kenny Bayless?...Garcia flashbacks

I hope Kenny doesnt stop the fight prematurely like he did for the Garcia bout, he stopped it just as Khan was coming back to his senses. I still think the timing of that stoppage was ******, if he wanted to stop it, he should have done it earlier when Khan actually looked in serious trouble

Although i like Kenny, but not when he is suckin on Floyds pee pee

9 times out of 10 when Kenny is involved the fight is epic

Interesting... I've always wondered how much refs and judges get for a big time event like this.
It does seem a bit low to me.

That seems like tiny money considering the money involved.

No wonder judges turn in bogus scorecards.

The relative small amount of cash for ref who is utterly under the spotlight and can be vilified if he turns in a bad performance is an issue as well. Probably explains why Joe Cortez got so many gigs. He obviously had skin thicker than a rhinoceros - he didn't care when he got criticised. He was awful towards the end.

And his willingness to go back to the well just meant he got the reputations as a go to ref.

Those judges are pretty much getting paid to see a KO in the best seats in the arena

Kenny should have stopped the Garcia v Khan fight in the third when Khan was falling around like a drunk and could not even raise his gloves when ordered to .Khan took such a battering after that and hasn't really made any sense since. But give Kenny his dues he is a top ref and gave Khan every chance.

bayless has to be the worst ref in boxing. he constantly fails upward. how many fights will he be allowed to f-uck up by pretending he doesn't even know the rules? he's approaching joe cortez's legendary status.

Kenny "TMT" Shameless... used to be one of the best refs in the sport and overnight became one of the most corrupt crap refs in the business.

Khan will get hurt but he will recover, however, Kenny wont give him that chance.

I remember after the Abdusalamov tragedy, there was an article about how the guy who the commission hired to look after his wellbeing was paid so little that he was focusing on getting Golovkin's used handwraps to sell when he should've been paying attention to an injured fighter who needed help.

Bayless isn't perfect but there are surely less than 10 refs in the world who are really elite and he's one of them. 4K to make sure a multi-million dollar fight is handled correctly seems crazy low. No wonder officials are so easy to pay off if that's all they receive from being honest and good at their job. A 300K bribe is nothing to the likes of Arum, Haymon, Oscar (or did he lose most of his during the coke days?) but is 100x more than the judges get paid by the commission.
