Comments Thread For: Khan's Father: This is About Legacy, Brook Was a Bigger Payday

Shah Khan, father and business manager of former champion Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs), rejects the idea that monetary gain was the main motivation for accepting the opportunity to challenge WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).

Khan only has 3 losses and one was a BS decision so 2 losses. There's a small chance he could make a fight out of this if he doesn't get hurt early.

I'm glad Brook didn't get his payday since he refuses to fight a live opponent and the money behind his hype machine is probably getting impatient with their investment by now.

The real tragedy here is Canelo being excuses by so many people for opting to fight Khan rather than Golovkin. One of the most pathetic illustrations of why boxing pales in comparison to the UFC model, where Canelo would have been told to shut the **** up and the fight would have been booked.

I just can't understand why someone would give up a winnable big fight with Kell brook to take a big fight that they stand VERY little chance in winning with Canelo. The only explanation is that Khan is done with boxing at this point, doesn't mind losing, and is just looking for one last check.

These Khan's are more ridiculous by the day , Khan is not operating at a higher level , actually relative pro novice Spence is operating at a higher level as he has just done a job that Khan was was no where near up to with Algieri.

Khan ran from many more millions because he knows a loss to Brook finishers him , that would be four loses three by knockout ...game over but fighting diva Canelo will only end the same way.

Khans plan is rather than fight any of the dangerous welterweights, fight Canelo for big money .Canelo has already been well beaten and struggles with boxers two more have in a lot of peoples eye's also beaten him .

He brags about moving up two weights , the lump forgets this is a catchweight fight at 155lbs so he's moving up one division and 1lb.

The Khans are all over the place on how best to protect his glass jaw and as it is expected to let him down once again they see this route as the best option as if by any chance he can keep it safe for twelve rounds he gets all the credit in one fight that he's expected to lose ...this is not about legacy (lol)...this is a gamble on how much money Khan can acquire before the inevitable happens ........sparked again.

              Exactly!!

If Brook beats Khan there is no Canelo.

If Canelo beats Khan there's still Brook on the table.

              It's that simple.

                its about khan saving face

if he gets blasted by canelo he can say he went up two division's and fell short

if brook blasts him out at Wembley he would have no other excuses other than he isn't as good as he thought he was

                  This.

He knows if he loses to Canelo, it doesn't mean a thing. He's expected to and can still fight Brook.

If he loses to Brook, that's far more damaging to his career.

                    .
The way he would lose to Canelo would be more damaging to his career.
I mean, if Canelo is dominating the fight, and so putting his hands on Kahn then Amir will get koed bad.

This KO may be too much to recover.
Nelo will enter in the ring on fight night as a lightheavyweight around 170.

I'm just wondering how Kahn can beat Alvarez...unless Khan can bring up unexpected power at 155 that would shut out Nelo's abilities...
