wasn't there another tweet from dibella that sparked morreti to fire off in the first place? I was never one to be impressed by Verdejo, in fact I said he shouldn't be on hbo fighting come-up fights, but I didn't see the point in Dibella disrespecting Verdejo like that and saying "he looked like ****." There's a great many fighters that look like ****, why target Verdejo like he did something to you?

I agree in spirit, but Verdejo is not that big of a puncher either and he's looked less than spectacular against opponents who were stopped or beaten in better style by lower tier fightersLou is the one who started it by taking shots at Verdejo. I expect this from him going forward. Every time Pedraza has a fight he's going to try and use Verdejo's name to pump him up.
The reality is that Pedraza will never be on Verdejo's level, unless Verdejo's falls off and takes a bunch of L's. Pedraza has a terrible hairline, the dude is almost bald, has the personality of a brick, lacks charisma, and while he's a good boxer he has a boring style that doesn't generate knockouts. There are reports that he doesn't interact with his fans either. Also, lacking a social media presence isn't doing him much favors. He has 500 twitter followers compared to Verdejo's 22K.
Verdejo on the other hand looks like other Puerto Ricans, is a lot more flashy in the ring, more charismatic and is 4 years younger.Comment

DiBella was critical of verdejo's performance, but Moretti was critical of dibella as a promoterwasn't there another tweet from dibella that sparked morreti to fire off in the first place? Saturday's PBC on NBC card (at least on TV) weren't really mismatches, though RussellJr-Heiland was a wretched matchup tbh; looking at the calendar for the year, so far, only about a handful of the Haymon-affiliated TV fights have been outright mismatches (LSC-Martinez, Williams-Montano, Broner-Theophane, and Russell-Hyland are the obvious ones to me).Comment

I thought you were joking about the followers but he has like 500 followers and is following 600 people, he needs to stop bi.tching and step his social media presence up.Comment

It would seem to me that a lot of you have missed the point. Yes DiBella is always blowing a gasket, but what Morretti did was try and poach one of DiBella's fighters, through social media no less, under the guise of responding to DiBellas criticism of Verdejo. In doing so he has created a line of tweets that will look bad when DiBella forwards them to Haymon's lawyers, and those lawyers deliver it to the judge. Pretty damn funny.Comment
