New Amature Boxer on the Way Up!

Yeah i agree with a few points you make their, 14 fights at my age ant really what u would class as "busy", i would have been up2 around a cool 30 but many off my bouts where canceld or weight problems came into afect with my opponents,ive been told many a time in my gym by respected boxers in my area that i could turn pro but ive always thought different due to my amature numbers (14). i know 4 sur i would not turn pro untill at least 40 at least bouts, it would be crazy off me 2 do otherwise.

And FLOYD ya fight a few more fights man, i have 1 fight and plan on fighting atleast 15 more and turning pro, if your 14-o that means something and by stayin amateur for 25+ fight and turing pro at say 24-25 whats the fun in that, the younger you are the more youll learn and amateur boxing can only teach you so much!

Your talking of turning pro after only 16 fights? ****, I know a whole bunch of kids who had 16 fights before they were 10 years old. When those kids do turn pro they will probably have over 100 bouts under their belts. You run into one of them in the pro ring and you are most likely going to get your ass handed to you hard.

What is it with these people. They think that the pros are anything like the amatuers. They are not. I have people almost daily talking **** about turning pro and they have a handfull of fights. I tell them, once you go pro you can never go back. If you guys were to turn pro at 23, which is in no way to late, you could atleast get some experience in the amatuers. Alot of people think that the amatuers dont groom you for the pros, to them I tell them that they dont know ****. I would much rather turn pro at 23 with 50 or 60 fights behind me than turn pro at 19 with 15.

If you guys do turn pro that early give me your phone numbers. Im sure that the meat wagon would likely be interested in getting in touch with you.

Take your time and learn your craft. Like I said, once you go pro you cant go back. The amatuers are about learning the techniques and skills of the sport. The pros are about straight out damage. Think long and hard before you sign your first contract to fight. Its like night and day.

I understand what your saying and that does apply to most fighters but my friend i live and breath for boxing anythign that involves boxing im there, in it, or watching it... I have studied boxing like school kids study histroy, maybe not the history of boxing but the technique the skills and the grace of the greatest fighters..... As petty as it may sound im ready to turn pro now! but will give myself the benfit of the doubt that 15 more fights will be better for me and thats what i plan on doing unless a big opportunity arises for me, such as golden gloves or even the olympics... honestly man i believe im that good!

Place your amateur fights in the Training & Nutrition section, you will get much more solid feedback than from here and there are many more boxers there than on this section.

whatever guys, don't even listen to Rockin'. The little guy is pretty damn bitter about how his career ended up. If he wants to go pro and make some actual money boxing then all the power to anyone who wants to do that. Who the **** are you to say what someone should do with their life?
