Listening to the interview he said his left hand was brothering him, when they ask him why he didn't go to the body? Hmmm he needs to get that hand addressed , because he let this guy invade his space, Verdejo needs to develope a consistent jab, he would really punish this kid with stiff jabs in succession then fire the right hand straight not looping it. He tries to throw way to many home runs instead of settle for the singles and doubles

New trainer period. Kid's ring acumen very questionable...if he doesn't adjust hype a la cinnabum....

Checking lists of active boxers and their records, there is nobody else whose name comes close and with a 42-2 record and much less if it is a Mexican. So, looks like somebody made up the lie to try to justify the lackluster type of performance.

Yes, this is the same Rodriguez that was stopped by an Argentinian a few years back like boxrec lists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSSI4pm5Mpo
I don't know where this claim that he's actually 40-2 is coming, but I did notice that several boxing outlets erroneously listed him as 21-6-1 entering this fight instead of 18-8 according to boxrec, so perhaps there was confusion on the part of Verdejo's team and Rodriguez tried to capitalize on it by inflating his record in order to psyche Verdejo out. Just speculating.

He should've said his record was 100-0 I didn't see the fight. You know where I can find a video of it?

That Jose Felix Jr. fight is going to tell us a lot more.

I think Verdejo should think of changing trainers right now that he's young. Since the Felix Jr. bout is a little bit less than two months away he should wait until after that fight.

I hear you, that is on his team though. I bet it has to do with the time frame they had to work with after his original opponent pulled out. Either way it as a risky move and they should learn from it.
