If he makes it past the 7th round I'll be surprised. We know his only goal in this fight is to go the distance and continue to justify his purse/reputation.
Spence is not some 140lb fighter with little power that is parading around at 147 (like Khan, Provo, and at this point Manny). At 5'10, Spence is probably the biggest/strongest elite welterweight there is today (Maybe Special K?) and he's likely stronger than all the top fighters at that weight class. He will do some serious damage to Algieri in this fight.
No disrespect to Chris, I think his career arc and heart are things that we should all aspire to duplicate in our own lives, but he cannot beat this kid. Spence is way to strong and physical for him. All the guys Chris has fought are not big and strong fighters. And before you all start saying Manny, I think its obvious at this point that Manny has lost whatever "pop" he had a few years ago. Even back then it was more about volume punching than pure power.

A Spence dominant victory livens up the division considerably and gives us hope for the future of the welterweight/super welterweight divisions. It opens up the platform for a new era of boxing.
Having said that, I can see a possibility where an Algieri victory could be good for boxing. Algieri was a considerably defensive fighter who relied alot on movement and footwork, yet when he faced Khan he was a come forward albeit sort of plodding pressure fighter. I didn't like that they turned a slick, hard to hit guy into a come forward plodder who gets hit easily.
However, if that wasn't the end game but just a step to make Algieri more versatile (ability to fight both on the backfoot and on the offense, and/or switch between the two at will or create a style that incompasses principles of both disciplines), then Algieri winning would be good for boxing and he would go on to become a strong contender or even dominant figure in the division.
If he fights Spence like how he fought Khan, and this is the way he gonna fight from no on, then he has no chance of beating Spence and in my view is actually regressing.
Algieri used to be a complicated pure boxer, mixing his old style with his new one will make him a boxer/puncher or an offensive pure boxer, which is an improvement. Sticking purely to this new style will just make him a punching back for an aggresive, strong, and skilled guy like Spence.

I think this is an interesting fight, but Algieri talking about his power sounds like crazy talk & doesn't bode well for this being THAT interesting of a fight. Kinda feels like some of the nutty **** he was saying pre-Manny before he was doing all sorts of gymnastics around the ring. I can't imagine Spence can make him look that bad, but if he takes the throwing big shots at Spence early strategy I predict this won't be a very competitive fight.

Yeah he does based on what we seen from him so far but based on his level of competition I don't think we seen the best of Spence Jr yet, maybe we see it tonight
But Algieri is going to be a challenge because he does have some boxing skills. Spence can't go out trying to just walk through his punches because he thinks he doesn't have Power. Body Work early will be key for Spence Jr

I'm curious to see what kind of gameplan Algieri/JDJ employ on Spence, who is a big mystery at this point.
