True. Its been falling since the 90's ffs. They used to have over $100M a year for boxing. Now they got under $30M.

And there has also been an exodus of high level long term HBO Boxing employees over the last 6 months that suggests maybe worse things are to come.

Its probably well established that I expect HBO will be out of the boxing business within the next 5-10 years at this point. All clues seem to suggest HBO is slowly but surely ending their boxing program.

he got 1.5 for pac. his promoters pocketed the other 1.5 i think that is why he is having all these issues. the b side on nbc pbc main events used to get well over 1mil now th3 4 fighters in main and co-main arent making ovver a mil between all 4 this is hbo B.A.d. level

The names get money. The non-names don't. Quit making things up to fit your narrative. If it was true fair enough. But its not true.

Spence isn't a name yet. Not a million dollar name anyway. And yea sure Aligeri is getting $1.5M for fighting one of the top 3 names in the sport where he lost, $500k for fighting a former champ with a very solid name where he lost & now after those 2 L's $325k for fighting a prospect where he's probably gonna lose. If he does lose he'll probably make less money next time, if he wins he'll probably make equal or better money next time. Thats how **** tends to work at this level.

Spence is actually getting overpaid vs. Algeiri. Why is he even getting the larger share? Algeri has won a world title, fought on PPV and is fighting at home. Spence has never even headlined before.

I'm not talking about Showtime. **** measuring Showtime against HBO has nothing to do with HBO's reality. No clue what this has with HBO having a lot of big names leaving in a way I've not seen them leave before. These cats all left within the last 6 months. They had almost 70 years at HBO combined.

HBO now has a ex-boxing writer running HBO & as is often ignored they even changed the title of the head of HBO boxing. It used to be a President of HBO Sports position, now its a VP of HBO Sports position. HBO has been shrinking their dedication to boxing over the last 20 years. Now they are shrinking off some high level HBO Boxing employees & even shrinking the title of the guys running things. These are all bad signs for the longevity of HBO Boxing.

i was just making the point that showtime boxing seems to be expanding its budget.

peter nelson is highly educated i don't think he is a bad choice to run the show but we shall see. i bet hbo boxing lasts longer than pbc does.....

You're making up that everyone is getting paid for just being on these cards & it has nothing to do with their status. If they throw Oscar Valdez on HBO Championship Boxing tomorrow vs another prospect/fringe contender level guy he's not getting Terrence Crawford money out of the gate. And thats not happening with PBC fights either. There is still a progression up the payment scale ladder for guys who aren't of the name value Thurman, Broner or Garcia are. Spence & Aligeri aren't getting Thurman & Porter money. There is no purse cutting going on with this fight. These guys are getting paid what people would expect based on previous purses & career trajectory.

Algieri in particular should now be getting way more than he's getting in this fight. My hats off to him for not complaining. I could imagine others like Crawford, Walters, etc. would have never accepted it.

Guys like Thurman, Santa Cruz were already getting way more when they were fighting cab drivers. One Time got $600K in the Joel Diaz fight. Santa Cruz got $500K in the Mijares, then progressed to $750K each in the Roman and Ruiz fights.
