Can you honestly say HBO is putting on such a poor product in comparison to what others are putting out there? They basically got the top 10 P4P on their roster. They got Canelo, Manny (or had anyway) & Cotto who are probably the biggest active names in the game. They got some pending huge fights for the sport with GGG vs Canelo, Postol vs Crawford & Kov vs Ward (maybe Walters vs Loma). And they show everything behind the scenes that fans have gotten used to & conditioned to seeing over the past 3-ish decades HBO has been the home of high level boxing largely that Lampley is talking about.

Its 2016. No one wants to watch a Ray Liotta endorsed alcohol ad 30 times in a row. They wanna see whats happening in the corner. Free TV for sure takes away some of my enjoyment of a fight with all those breakaways from whats going on. There's good fights on HBO & PBC. There's whatever fights on HBO & PBC. There's bs fights on HBO & PBC. The difference is HBO shows me everything thats happening.

Does it matter if you have the best if they won't fight? Manny vs Bradley on ppv is the only fight between Ring p4p ranked fighters since Floyd vs Manny.

I dont hate Haymon but I will say this, I would gladly not watch any of those fights just to see GGG vs Canelo and Ward vs Kovalev...

If you look at # of fights put on , competitve fights among top talent , accessibility and ratings PBC and associates is #1.

Stop living in the past HBo isn't bringing much to the table and isn't the premier boxing outlet anymore. Yeah HBO can sell a story but this isn't wrestling this is a sport at the end of the day all that matters is what happens inside the ring

Golovkin- 100 to 1 betting mismatch vs Wade

Gonzalez- 100 to 1 mismatch vs the bad Arroyo.

Crawford- 14-1 mismatch vs Lundy

Canelo-fighting a guy who was knocked out at 135

Ward- guy who struggled vs Jeff Lacey.

People are in denial. 100 to 1 used to be rare. Tyson vs Douglas was 52 to 1.

yes, I'm aware they're haymon fighters. You asked what HBO is doing for you meanwhile listing two HBO fights under the Haymon-is-giving-you-this category...make sense now? I don't think those bouts should be included in your Haymon vs hbo thread.

I don't believe its even disputable HBO isn't STILL the industry leader in the sport. You can talk ratings, you can talk competitive fights, you can talk mismatches, you can talk whatever. All I know is when I talk to most people about boxing they talk about HBO fights not PBC fights. I know HBO feels bigger & better than PBC fights even to me on whatever level of fight I'm watching. And the reality is there are bs fights & great fights on both en******, but you can't tell anyone who's too on one side that cuz HBO or PBC is the greatest thing since pocket p#ssies to them.

And don't get me wrong I love what PBC could represent. I'm rooting for PBC. I've typed many posts in support & defense of PBC. I'm considered a Haymon/PBC fanboy by some of the most racist &/or ******ed people on this forum. But the reality is its a clusterf#ck still with all sorts of confusion & issues + as mentioned in this thread I'm even starting to think Free TV isn't sellable to the 2016 version of a boxing fan who's been raised on no commercials, cursing & all sorts of side programming to hype them up for fights with their boxing. Commercials are so 2006 & people want some hype.

To me these conversations are like resume conversations between two guys that end up basically just being two guys ****ting on the other guys guy. We can spend all day ****ting on HBO & PBC but its not gonna prove anything.

The bottom line for me is I don't believe either of these en****** to be doing anything on a whole other level than the other in regards to their fights. What I know is HBO gots almost all the names people wanna see for the most part & PBC is putting on a bunch of competitive fights for guys no one knows. I tend to think those two things cancel each other out largely. If you are just looking at it as a pure boxing fan whos only thinking about the fight themselves & ignoring the superiority of the overall HBO production vs the confusion of all the 8 networks PBC deals with & the 8 different announcing teams & the assortment of production values & caliber of venues than fair enough I see why you think PBC is better. But the average person watching boxing is seeing a superior overall product in HBO Boxing. I mean ask around man don't take my word for it. Throw up a poll thread who gots the best overall presentation & is the best representation of the sport of boxing. I have a hard time believing people wouldn't choose HBO Boxing.

I guess largely because there hasn't been any serious competition. Showtime has been HBO's #1 competitor forever or at least til PBC has come into play & they've always felt like a distant #2 even when they had the Holyfield's, the Tyson's & the Mayweather's. And I think HBO's seen as the #1 network in boxing by boxing people & that keeps the best fighters with them. I mean go try to tell Kathy Duva she could probably get Kovalev more money on PBC than HBO. HBO damn near literally gots the top ten P4P list. I remember when they had $120M a year they didn't have as many P4P guys. That stuff means something even if GGG is fighting a guy on house arrest & Gonzalez is a -5000 favorite or whatever.

I still say if you throw a thread up on this forum & asked people what their favorite overall boxing entity of choice is between PBC & HBO, HBO would win. I think I'd be surprised if its even semi-close.

I know what they got. I know whats coming. I just know its gonna take time & the quality of product isn't there yet. The got a couple guys who are close. They got some great talent that can be big in another 2+ years. I know the production is awkward. I know the schedule is all over the place & often infrequent despite 7 or whatever networks being involved in the PBC product. I know the overall PBC model lacks a public figurehead that can guide & influence things in the way that product needs. They just don't got enough guys who are THERE yet in popularity. The mere fact PBC came outta nowhere & gave HBO competition is a win by itself, but there are clearly not a superior product cuz there are just too few fights people care about. Even the FOTY fights PBC had don't get talked about all that much. And I believe the Free TV model is seen as an inferior form of programming after boxing fans have been watching premium cable + PPV for the best fights for the last generation or two.

I think we are just gonna agree to disagree about this, but like I said make a poll if you wish.
