Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Trainer: Barrera Looked Worse Than Ward Looked Good

People always look worse vs Ward though. If Ward-Froch was the only fight of Froch's you ever saw, you wouldn't think he was capable of clearing out the rest of the division.
I think Ward genuinely hurt Barrera and made him have second thoughts about his aggressive gameplan. I can't honestly say I ever expect him to be a top guy at the weight, Kovalev would've destroyed him, but he seemed to come in with a lot more fight in him than he left with. Ward seems to make a lot of opponents lose confidence and second-guess themselves.Comment

JDJ is right when he says Ward needs to have more offensive weapons and tighter defense when he fights Kovalev. Ward and Virgil Hunter know this hence the purpose of the tune ups to get the rust off and sharpen his skillset.John David Jackson was an interested observer of the March 26th bout between Andre Ward and Sullivan Barrera that was won by Ward via decision in Oakland, California.

If Kovalev can't KO Ward, he better hope JDJ has given him the proper game plan along with teaching Kovalev how to adjust to everything Ward may do. That's not possible to teach or learn with a fighter as complete as Ward.
I'm picking Ward as I have from the beginning. I just don't see Kovalev catching him clean enough nor do I see Kovalev out boxing Ward.
It's going to be a good fighter for sure for those of us who like technic. Its going to be a boring fight for those who are fans of rockem sockem robots/blood and guts warriors.Comment

Good point. Although, I'm not sure if Barrera was adequately prepared ?
Maybe he was, but Sanchez seemed to be relying on Ward being old, faded, and small at LHW..... that advice seemed a little weak at the time, I hope his fighter didn't buy into any of that.
Kovalev will be ready I'm sure.Comment

Ward comes back and beats a guy all 12 rounds whose number 1 contender after being off essentially a year. I don't know what these fight fans are talking about but that's impressive. I saw rust but that's expected which is why Duva wanted the fight to be next. If not concerned they wouldn't have even tried to rush the fight. Ward will be ready for Kovalev please believe.
Yup ^^
The golovtards, ooops I mean, Kovalev fans..... appear to be shook.Comment

HBO, Duva and Kovalev have been Bullshi***ing nonstop hyping this crap matchup. Even the announcers for the Barrera fight were hyping all fight. Now the trainer is BSing also. If Jackson was honest he would have said this pitty pat fa g got Ward has zero chance he will be Krushed like a bug. There is nothing at LH for Kovalev until maybe Beterbiev gets his sh**t together. LH is a very weak division. Same situation for GGG move up or be ducked and fight mediocres over and over and over. The divisions under Cruiser weight are half divisions.
Uh. no..... if he was ******, he may have said that.
Props to you.Comment
