Plenty of fighters have moved up a weight class and won. It's actually the norm. I say selective because Ramerirez isn't much of a threat at 168. DeGale or Jack would be a big win at 168. Those are the two best in the division. To go from only moving up for a big money fight to fighting the weakest of the168lb champs. That's a selective pick
The least proven yes but the weakest is yet to be determined. Either way even if he is the weakest champion he is still in the top 5 SMW at this moment and that is no easy task for any middleweight... I really dont see anyone from the middleweight division or lower coming up and winning that fight (except GGG).

Don't want this fight for Golovkin for at least a couple of years. Ramirez brings no money, no fans. If GGG wins, everyone will say he's picking on young unproven fighters. If he loses, people will say he was beaten by a newbie, despite giving up a huge reach and height advantage.

Exactly what Floyd did everytime he moved to 154 and yet you were ok with that.

Reach and height? there are only weight divisions...

It'd have to be third choice behind Canelo and Saunders, but if they ain't available there ain't much that'd be bigger at 160. I ain't 100% sold on Zurdo yet, but he's certainly a talent - for me it'd be a more interesting fight than pretty much anything at MW.

So De La Hoya, Cotto, & Canelo were the weakest champs at 154?

I predicted a few weeks ago that Team GGG would be more interested in Ramirez out of DeGale and Brook.

As I said a few weeks ago, I think Ramirez is the weakest link and I still believe that.

Not to say DeGale can even beat GGG, but he would be the most dangerous out of the aforementioned.

How about the Ring's #1 MW... Daniel Jacobs?

DLH was old and shot. He retired one year after that.
Cotto was beaten by marg and pac already.
Canelo was weakened by the catchweight (came fight night 7 lbs less than his usual weight). Which was a logical move by Floyd. Canelo sucks without his weight advantage.
