Of course this PPV flopped. I'll wait for the official numbers but it was a fight nobody wanted after Manny already won the first two fights and those gay comments didn't help any.

That's why it flopped. If this were another fighter with a lower purse requirement then this many ppvs would be more then enough to turn a profit. But when you got to pay Manny 20mil and Bradley 6mil you lose money. Just like Showtime lost money in Mayweather's fight with Berto. Both flops.Comment

I don't believe "not good" wasn't an expected if not likely outcome going in for this fight. Tim was seen as a undefeated threat the first time & it did 800k+ iirc. Tim was seen as the guy who upset Manny or seen as a guy who was gonna get his for that bs decision the second time & it did 800k+ again iirc. This time no one really saw anything of interest in this matchup. With that being the reality if its 400k-500k thats really not bad of a drop off.Comment

By Lee Cleveland:
Previous PPV Buys
Pacquiao vs Bradley I, June 2012 – 900K PPV buys
Pacquiao vs Bradley 2, Apr 2014 – 750K to 800K PPV buys
Given 1) the immediate aftermath of Pacquiao vs Bradley I was unprecedented and 2) Bradley's recent wins over the surging Ruslan Provodnikov and PacMan foe Juan Manuel Marquez, Top Rank had hoped to garner over 1 million buys for the rematch which yielded only 750-800K buys.
Promoter Bob Arum is optimistic tonight, hoping for at least 700K buys for what is believed to be Manny Pacquiao final bout.
Given Manny’s stock has dropped a bit since his loss to Floyd Mayweather and controversial comments about gays, Top Rank is relying on hardcore fans who won't be able to resist seeing a fight legend ply his trade one last time.
Projected buyrate: Look for Manny Pacquiao vs Tim Bradley to garner about 500K buys.Comment

These numbers are about what I expected. HBO deserves these garbage numbers after allowing this useless fight to happen in the first place. Amir Khan is big enough draw to fight Canelo for the middleweight title, but he's not a big enough draw to fight Pacquiao? That's ridiculous. Khan and Crawford would have both been better options.Comment

Actually, it's pretty bad if you look at it from earnings perspective.
Look at the recent PPVs:
Pac/Bradley - ~500K PPVs, $24M purses for headliners.
Cotto/Canelo - ~900K PPVs, ~$29M purses for headliners*
Golovkin/Lemieux - ~150K PPVs, $3.5m purses for headliners
Floyd/Berto - ~450K PPVs, $36M purses. Basically, Floyd got another huge payday because May/Pac broke all records.
Look at the PPV revenue generated, 500K PPVs @ $70 each = 35M. The networks usually take half, so that leaves 17.5m for the fighters, promoters etc. Pac/Bradley purses are 24M. If you add in gate revenue, promotional sales, etc, and subtract arena/ancillary costs, the event most likely cost Arum a bit of his own money.
*Cotto was guaranteed 10M with PPV share, Canelo 6.5M. Per the article, Cotto's PPV share for 1.5m PPV buys would have pushed him to 30M, so to approximate, I'm prorating the 900K actual buys vs. 1.5m in the articleComment
