I can see how he could have taken this to help with blood circulation if he's ill or has a medical condition without realising it was a banned substance. Sounds like an honest mistake.

why would any athletes even consider using any type of banned substance? i rather lose knowing that i did my best than to win knowing that i cheated. makes no sense.

Supposedly WADA banned this because they found too many athletes on the stuff. Apparently was found in the urine of 13 Gold medalists at the 2015 European Games.

            Link:
How much evidence is required to put a substance on the banned list – and will athletes take anything that might conceivably give them the edge?

In his defense on this one this is a new PED from my understanding. This was legal last year & its not this year. And I'm sure everyone didn't get the memo. Whether this guy did or didn't who really knows.

This is one of the legit problems with the banned substances list. Who the eff can name the list or more importantly what products or what medical issues you legitly have that you might be given a prescription for that these products might be in.

I'd also be curious as to the science of why this PED was okay last year & its not this year. Or I guess what the threshold of a drug being a PED to begin with is.

I guess if you're an athlete, just stay away from any drugs, if you have to take any, inform the officials.
