Back in the domestic ****** era 190 lbs was considered an imposing heavyweight and windmill punches were a mark of "boldness".
Even though Fury himself is extremely sloppy, the bar has still been raised.
Sure, Foreman stood out among them, but imagine other Ali opponents like Buster Mathis, Chuck Wepner and Joe Frazier in today's HW division. They would leave their debut on a stretcher.
Dude, I get your point. I agree some of those Ali foes you mentioned may be at a disadvantage in this era but I beg to differ when it comes to one Cassius Clay. Ali is a good 6'3 and about 218 or so. Size wise, he falls in line with the average heavyweight of today. While he gives up a few inches, Ali has the boxing skills and a mind that is unrivaled in today's heavyweight. Ali has the ability to process exactly how he wants to win a fight. If you bring the power of these modern heavyweights, Ali's ring generalship against these big heavyweights will be on full display. He will carry these guys too fast by simply jabbing and dancing till they tire out and then he takes over late and we all know Ali has all time great stamina. If there is or are heavyweights that could beat, trust me, it's not Tyson Fury. Fury is levels and I mean levels below a fighter of Ali's caliber. If my arms are twisted, I 'll give maybe Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield the best chance to beat him. Ali has too much character, too much intelligence and too much gusto for all these boys I see in the ring today.
Read my post again. Am actually on your side. My reference to "get out of here" was me saying don't even waste your time rationalizing with most of these trolls posting in here. You and I know Fury or any of these heavyweights have no chance against a primed Cassius Clay. If only we can get some of these morons to see the same thing.
LOL My bad man. I guess I truly didnt read into what you were really saying.
As far as comparing the guys of today to the greats of yesteryear is ridiculous. Wlad who has been around way longer and has gone through his career already, you can compare him as we know his career body of work. And as far as Wlad goes, he is a hall of famer and a very good heavyweight. Can he compete with the greats of yesteryear? I say yes but can he win? I say that's a huge question mark. I think he could of beat the Ken Nortons or the Leon Spinks', but against Ali, Joe Louis and the truly great heavyweights I say no way.
As far as Wilder, Fury and Joshua. Those dudes are barely getting started in their career and to say right now they would beat the greats of past is disrespecting them those greats. Once their careers are done and see who they beat maybe you can make a claim. But as of right now Fury, Wilder, or Joshua haven't done anything that makes me believe they can. Do they have size? Yes, Do they have skills? Well Fury does more they wilder or Joshua, but Wilder and Joshua are rather rudimentary with theirs. Its just Fury, Wilder or Joshua haven't beaten anyone that makes me say they can beat an Ali, or a Joe Louis.
Im just not as impressed with their size as some are on here.
The clueless one is you if you can't see the finesse, the accuracy, the fluidity, the poetry in motion that is Fury. Fury is everything Ali was but better, as far as a fighting specimin goes.
What makes this an uneven fight is that Fury would tower over Ali. Ali would be forced to come forward and he would get mauled and stopped late.
Here you go with this garbage again. Finesse? Accurate? Fluidity? None of that applies to Fury. What Fury does is use his size advantage verrrrrry well. Vs a prime Ali that size advantage won't be enough. Ali's combinations put Furys lights out in the 11th with Ali well ahead on the cards.

Fury would deal with Ali the same way he dealt with Cunningham. He would rough him up and knock him out. Too big, too strong.
Ali, Frazier etc. would fight in cruiser division nowadays..
And Steve Cunningham was a cruiser who put Fury on the canvas in the first few rounds. If that were Ali, Fury wouldn't have survived the round. Fury has never fought anyone with near the athleticism as Ali, he would have no idea what to do.
Tyson beat an old, old, old Wlad and he hasn't done much else of note. The prime Ali was lightning fast with both hands and feet. The 25 year old Ali before he was forced to take four years off would make a punching bag out of Fury in my opinion.
This is true he got Wladimir at the right time but that said I still think Wladimir at his advanced years could still turn back the clock If he goes on the offensive.
Fury got lucky with Wlads age and bad gameplan.

Fury was messing around against Steve, dropping his hands and sticking his chin up in the air. He wouldn't do that against Ali.
