If anybody is watching Sky Sports, Martin himself just admitted to mis-timing the count and getting up late.

All we need now is an interview with Martin and Michael Spinks talking about getting blown out for titles.

@ Fat Yanks saying this was a British stitch up (from a non-UK ref... though he was still a "Euro" of course )

I've seen some dodgy bull**** in UK rings, but this wasn't it... at best, Martin mistimed the count. At worst, it was pure quittology.

Martin just said in a post-fight interview that he timed the count wrong. Because the ref went to guide Joshua towards the neutral corner, when he got back to Martin the count was at 6, Martin took a deep breath and then mistimed the count.

Not missing the count, the fact that the ref stopped the fight to the outright shock of the fighter who is claiming they're still in it despite being knocked loopy. That's what I meant and why I think Martin was just out on (off) his feet and wasn't really there. Not a bad stoppage, not a quit. He just got his block knocked and missed the count.

EDIT: and with the post-fight, there it is. The ref saw he wasn't going to make it and rightfully stopped the fight.

I haven't seen it for a second time but it looked as though he wanted the referee to make the decision for him. You can tell when a fighter intends to get up because they move in a position that enables them to beat the 10 count. He was sat motionless, staring at the referee, until the last moment.
