    Why wouldn't they hype him?

He's an olympic gold medalist and a world champion with a 100% KO ratio. On top of that, he keeps it classy, he's a huge attraction that could transcend the sport and he puts the sport of boxing in the spotlight.

I see no reason to have a problem with it.

Firstly, he shouldn't have won the gold. Secondly, the title is the best example of a paper belt in history. Thirdly, a 100% KO ratio is the least you'd expect for a guy of his amateur pedigree given his level of opposition he's fought. He's still not beaten anybody relevant and is receiving too much hype too early. Also, you are clearly a fan of Eubank jr, another guy who is pure hype right now until he beats somebody relevant. And Kell Brook, a man who has fought nobody for his whole career and has been a pro for over 10 years.

What a terrible world champion Martin was. The IBF heavyweight belt is as worthless as it's ever been. It was stripped from a genuine world champion and landed in the hands of a guy who won because his opponent got injured. Seriously, if we're being honest, what value does it even hold?

Fury beats him based on what I've seen, and that's not a knock against Joshua because he's basically a novice. But fury isn't the only guy I think beats him. Haye beats him too unless his suspect chin gets checked. The jury is out on Wlad and whether he really has what it takes any more so who knows there. Wilder probably loses to AJ to be honest but until he actually does these things the hype is going to be annoying to me. The guy has potential but everything is coming too early for him. If Hearn isn't ****** he'll be kept away from the very very top guys for a while, he needs to learn a bit as the Whyte fight showed.

I would worry for Haye, AJ is a big man, not a blown up cruiserweight with a small head.
AJ is as big as Wlad but more athletic and powerfull, I wouldn't bet my house on Haye and his weak chin, Haye is a fast tremendous puncher bur that's it.

Is David Haye a more proven heavyweight than AJ?
The best HW he has beaten might be the Giant Valuev, a freak who got schooled by Chagaev, or maybe Chisora??

It really doesn't matter how people spin in, it is what it is.

A world champ and gold medalist who brings much needed attention to the sport and looks to get knockouts, yet people complain still about him.

I'd say his level of opposition for 16 fights is relatively solid, how many HW's have fought better in the same first 16 fight span? He's knocking them all out in the process and doing a good job of raising the sports profile.

I really cannot fathom people complaining about Joshua, he is great for boxing.

He was gifted the gold. All of his opponents have been incredibly weak - so a 100% KO record isn't much to brag about. And he now holds a worthless IBF belt that belongs to the real champ, Tyson Fury.

I don't mind the hype. That's fine. But it's the truths that are being ignored, that I can't tolerate. The Skysports hype machine and British media are pretending that Tyson Fury (who beat a genuine champion reigning over the division for 10 years) doesn't exist. So much so, that they (Skysports) aren't even bothering to televise his rematch.

Joshua did what he needed to do. He KO'd the bum in front of him. Yet some how he gets the "hype" label yet I see praise on this site every day for other fighters doing the same thing.

You're not allowed to support guys on their rise? I've been a Eubank fan since he turned pro and will remain one. What's the problem there? Only allowed to support fighters once they reach the top?

Kell Brook has a win over a very good Shawn Porter and is having a hard time getting the other top guys at 147 to step in the ring with him.
