Is UFC/MMA Salary Economics Affecting Boxing Purses?

A lot of boxers are just overpaid.
I'm good with millions being paid out when the level of competition is good, but you've got guys getting paid millions to fight complete cans and then wonder why they don't want to take on the other top guys. Why risk a loss and financial security when you can continue fighting bums for millions? That's the problem.Comment

Just cuz I don't know if a guy is getting $1 per PPV sale or $5 per PPV sale doesn't mean he & others aren't getting some dollar amount per PPV sale. Its well established for almost a decade name fighters are getting some dollar amount per PPV sale.Comment

I can understand that & I don't disagree, but then again there is the asses in seats argument. If a boxer can sell PPV's & a solid gate fighting a can then fair play to that guy & his people. If a guy can make $1M for fighting a guy he has a 10% chance of losing to & he can make $2M for fighting a guy he has a 50% chance of losing to, dollars vs risk wise it makes sense to fight the can for that particular fighter.A lot of boxers are just overpaid.
