Cannot speak for the rest of Canada, but my home town produced Sam Langford and George Dixon

          There's a couple reasons

          1) It isn't a popular sport, so the youth isn't exposed to it and don't want to participate in it. No good shows outside of Montreal not even half decent ones, No real TV push. If your a fan of the sport , you have to go out of your way to find it. That's probably 1 of the reasons Theres a high concentration of Canadians on this site because its not really a sport that has a following so Canadians that want to talk boxing have to go to sites like this.

          2) There is no grassroots system locally or nationally and the government doesn't support it , The qaulity & qaunity of gyms, Trainers, Funding isn't there so even if a fighter is talented there really isn't a system in place to Get them to the highest level.

Montreal seems to be a exception as far as funding, popularity, support

This comment is borderline ret@rded in so many ways

Canadians are just as good athletes as the rest of the world, Sports come down to funding at a grassroots level. If the system is in place then the youth will be able to achieve. Canada puts a lot of time and $ in hockey that's why Canadians have the best hockey players. They started putting $ in Winter Olympics they came in 3rd 4th in the medal haul which for country the size of Canada is impressive. Same with every other country that puts $ , attention in certain sports that's how you get results.

As far as Lemiuex he didn't quit he was outclassed he was fighting a fighter who is levels beyond What Lemiuex is or ever will be , he fought till it got stopped because he was getting a f.ucking beating, he showed heart. Do Mexicans not have heart because Rubio quit like a b.itch as soon as he felt GGG power and was so heartless even the tin man in wizard of Oz would be embarrassed ?

Canadians dominate hockey, physically probably the hardest sport of the major 5 team sports in North America. Are Americans pu$$y because most NBa players take a week off if someone stares at them too long and might take 3 months off if they twist a ankle. Are Europeans b.itches because most soccer players take a dive if someone comes with in 3 feet of them?

Their culture's not as violent as America's.

                Violence is in our blood.

Better social services and less desperate people. Back when Canada had poorer economic conditions the country produced legends like Jimmy Mclarnin and Lou Brouillard. The domestic boxing scene is rather pathetic. I think Razor Ruddock fought the Canadian Heavyweight Champion on the undercard of a PBC card in Toronto.

Quebec is the only province that boxing is huge in. Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia have weak domestic boxing scenes. Not enough corporate sponsors outside Quebec. Ontario & Alberta put on cards in front of 1000-2000 fans but we lack talent above the domestic level. Most fighters in Quebec are immigrants like Pascal, Bute, Stevenson, Pajkic until he retired. The best born & bread Canadian fighters of recent years are David Lemieux & Steve Molitor...
