I'll be quite honest with you....that's pretty correct. Because I don't consider using your legs a legitimate form of defense.
But to take it even further...I think Winky is the best I've seen. Because not only does he not use his legs....he doesn't shy away from punches.
He catches all of them on his arms and gloves.
what is with you and judging how good a fighter is based on how willing he is to stand and trade punches? this is the reason you think Castillo beat Mayweather, and it's ridiculous. just because you chase someone around the ring and hit their arms and shoulders does not make you the winner because the other guy fled. by your logic, Trinidad won the De La Hoya fight by a landslide. You need to stop thinking this sport is all about how willing you are to get hit and start realizing that the great ones hardly ever got hit. if Floyd Mayweather outboxes your ass for 12 rounds, you can't deny him p4p status because he doesn't stand and slug. you say all the time how you didn't like Mayweather because he ran from opponents, but all of a sudden you like him for beating up on Gatti and Judah. well, he was hitting Sosa, Castillo, and Corrales too, ya know. and those are scoring blows. I admit nobody likes a Cory Spinks, who NEVER scores knockdowns or hurts opponents, but you don't have to stand and slug to be considered the best. most people would call that ******. Vargas stands and slugs and look at his record against top notch opponents. it's like 2-3, a losing record, and most people felt he lost to Winky as well. if Vargas fought smarter, he'd probably have beat Trinidad, which would have made his legacy better. but then, of course, people like you wouldn't like him.
and yes, I combined lots of things in this post that aren't relevant to this particular thread, but just thought I'd vent this one time instead of saying it in 20 different threads.
I'll state it again....he might be the toughest fighter in boxing. Because he absorbs a tremendous amount of punishment from simply HUGE punchers....and doesn't stop pressing the action with his gaurd up and throwing.
He's something special. But in his case.....he doesn't need sting in his punches because he's a volume puncher.
I wasn't arguing, I was just asking. I like Winky. I just heard that taking tremendous punches on your arms would take the punch out of you. When I plyaed football and took a lot of shots on my arms, by the end of the game they were dead.

Thanks for that.
Either way, you can go ahead and keep enjoying ******ry in the ring at it's finest. Let's go ahead and waste our time watching people run the opposite direction from others in a fight.
Hell.....let's even do away with punching. Lets just have a couple of guys head feinting and taunting eachother repeatedly without even attempting to hurt the other guy, or even score points how they're supposed to be scored in a fight.
You can also keep scoring fights for the "Purist" or whatever you call that bull****. I'll keep scoring fights for the people who aren't wasting my ****ing time.

no one should ever take your scorecards seriously from this day forth
I'd take Toney over Wright because I think Wright's gift is largely physical in that his arms are so damn long he can put the earmuffs on and still protect the body. He's still a highly skilled defensive fighter but Toney's defense is more technique than physical. Bernard Hopkins certainly warrants a mention as he wasn't a dancer and besides the low activity loss to Roy Jones, he never got hit too much
