Roach Would Demand Rehydration Clause For Pacquiao-Canelo
Freddie Roach, who trains former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs), would demand a rehydration clause for a potential fight with WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).
Just leave the fight alone. Floyd fought him at 152 but no rehydration clause, Canelo rejected it. People still talk down about that fight even though Canelo was 165 and Floyd was 150, Floyd gets little credit from his detractors and weighs the same as Pac on fight night. If Pac fights Canelo with a rehydration clause and weight drains him, I can't imagine he'd get much more credit than Floyd did. But it's a big fight and big money involved that's the only positive of it for either fighter.
yeah, sure he does....
When's the last time he's weighed in on fight night?
Keeping that small welterweight/ big weight disadvantage myth alive with people like you I see.
Do you know who wouldn't ask for a catchweight or rehydration clause? A middleweight, Golovkin for example.
Why would he?? He's been a MW for EVER. Hell also NEVER move up in weight. He's gonna sit and squat at 160 for his entire career waiting for lil guys to get bigger and move up...You do know Canelo started his pro career at 139 lbs??? I have a feeling GGG is licking his chops and waiting for Crawford in a few years.
Yea, it's reasonable, considering the fact that Pac would be going up to 155, and Canelo is a weight manipulator himself. But it's a daydream, nobody in the Pac camp is considering that fight, including Manny..... this is just typical pre-fight bull**** started by Arum and fueled by Freddie. It's nonsense.
Agreed. Ticket & PPV sales must be low for the Bradley fight. What to do? Of course, put it out there that Manny may want Canelo next!
GOOD. If that fat **** is going to keep on picking on WWs instead of fighting his mandatory who is his own size, he deserves to get a rehydration clause. This fat ass wants to fight WWs and come in at 190 the night of the fight. The biggest fraud coward in Mexican history, as Chavez Sr said: "he is a bum picking on lightweights".
NO ONE makes Canelo do catchweights. He does that catchweight thing by himself and is also prepared to use it as an excuse if he loses.
He and his team offered Floyd a 150 catchweight, foolishly thinking that Floyd was scared of Canelo because of what the media said. Floyd said yeah I accept, but don't drain yourself so much, 152lbs is okay.
Let us not forget that Canelo won the title he was unifying with Floyd at a 150lbs catchweight to begin with, and weighed in at 153lbs in the fight he had before Floyd, and then complained he was drained for losing 1 measly pound.
Fast forward to two years later, after fighting at 155lbs catchweight for two years, he complained before the Cotto fight that he wanted the fight at 156lbs and that Cotto is the one who wanted it at 155lbs. So there he was, already setting up the excuse before the fight in case he lose.
What is even more disgusting however is the fact he then went on to demand a 155lbs catchweight for Golovkin after he was given the decision against Cotto.
You can't excuse this ****. Wants a higher catchweight (156) for the smaller guy and then asks for smaller one (155) for the bigger guy.
There is no bigger ***** than Canelo in world boxing, there never was and there never will.
That's not entirely true. Ellerbe claims that Canelo once mentioned coming down to 150 to fight Mayweather, but Canelo claims he never wanted a CW. It was Mayweather who wanted the CW of 147 then 150, neither of which Canelo said he could make. Canelo finally agreed on 152 to make the fight. Unfortunately, Alvarez seems to have adopted Floyd's "A side" mentality of demanding a CW to fight Golovkin, which is indeed shameful.
Dumbest ***** I ever heard. Canelo is bigger than Golovkin and Pac is MUCH smaller than Canelo. There is no comparison here.
Oh jeez, that ******ed argument again.
Don't be fkn ridiculous..... 160 > 155.
Canelo has NEVER fought a middleweight opponent, why don't you think about that for a sec, before you further commit yourself.
Don't be one of those fans who think that rehydration weight, or fight-night weight, is somehow relevant to this..... because it isn't.
The total amount of functional muscle-mass and conditioning that you can take into a fight is determined at the official weigh-in, NOT 1 day later..... excessive water gain will not help in that regard and can even be detrimental.
Canelo will be much stronger at 160..... and Team Golovkin are well-aware of that fact.
The " JMW is bigger than MW " argument, is ******ed.
Lets agree to disagree on that.
