What's Martin Murray's best win? His loss to Sergio? Same with Macklin, Geale etc. Lemieux had some decent wins over N'Dam and Rosado I suppose. There's no way you can look at his resume and claim he's great right now.

Danny Garcia gets so much crap, but he's fought much better fighters than GGG.
geale's best win isn't a loss to martinez. it's a decision win in germany over felix sturm. and sturm is a 5-time 2 weight champeen!!!!

sturm is garbage. list of champions sturm avoided:

        hopkins
        winky
        taylor
        pavlik
        Sergio
        GGG
        Ouma

The list goes on and on. He got big attention with his DLH fight and did absolutely nothing with it afterwards and went straight back to germany fighting cab drivers for the last decade. He cant even handle a shot sam solimon.

I have a lot of respect for GGG and his skills but to be great you have to fight and beat greats or near greats and there are none of those in this era. Not his fault. But the fact is, there has to be fighters who would enter the ring a 50-50 against him like all great middleweights did. That means there are no sensational fighters who would be considered threats and that's what it takes. If he was fighting in an era of Hagler, prime Hopkins, Monzon, etc., then he would be up against guys who would be favored over him and then we would see what he had. A fighter cannot become great without fighting greats or near greats, it is that simple.

I didn't mean to include Geale in that. I know Geale has some good wins in Sturm, Mundine and I thought he actually beat Barker. Macklin, Murray, Stevens, etc are some guys who I should ask that question about.

He is my favorite fighter but for reasons I don't understand he is well hated on boxing scene so don't expect many to agree with you that he is great. He has more successful title defenses and defends his titles far more often than any champion fighting today. He wins all his fights by KO and has 21 KOs in a row. But hell, what's so great about that? Any old bum could do the same thing. Just ask his haters.

I really like Golovkin, but there is a difference between looking like a great and actually being a great.

i agree with this post minus ouma. aside from jermain taylor, the only relevant fight ouma had at middleweight was against golovkin, and nobody gives him credit for that. so why should sturm be discredited for not fighting him?

to be honest, i think sturm probably decisions ouma without many problems/controversey. i could see that being a good entertaining fight back in the late 2000s though.
