Sadly, many haters seem to disagree. Martin could have fought an easier respectable opponent, such as Pulev, but he chose the hard road, the road to glory.

But he just took the best pay day possible.
So you seriously think that anyone besides Fury, Wilder, Povetkin, Klitschko and Ortiz stands a chance at beating him?

respect for not hanging around too long, Mr. Martin....
How this fact is lost on some people is beyond me. This is one of the biggest, most obvious money grabs in recent history and yet people are giving Martin props for 'courage' etc

'courage' to go to the UK...yea, like the 9 tickets Charles Martin would sell at StubHub Center in Carson were so hard to pass up

He just performed at the super bowl halftime show. What bigger stage is there?

It's better to risk losing your belt to Joshua for big money than risk losing to someone like Carlos Takam for peanuts.

All boxers deserve some form of respect. When it comes to Martin I just see a big stiff who doesn't have a lot of skills. Granted, Anthony Joshua is equally flat footed, but he's got much better offensive skills and he likely hits way harder too. I see Martin getting drilled early.

I dunno how you got that from my post.

I was simply stating that Martin took the highest paying fight like most boxers do.

I'm looking forward to the fight and glad it got made, i've just heard enough of this respect and props nonsense regarding Martin

Got to respect someone that knows their limitations and cashes in on a golden ticket. Plus he could win, Joshua looks like a beast while Martin looks like a standard flabby US heavyweight of the last decade but it is not like Joshua is a proven guy so it is not only is Martin getting a huge payday it is coming in what is probably the best opportunity he could hope for.

Sounds so obvious but lots of guys in boxing screw around in similar situations not striking while the iron is hot.
