Joshua has already beaten Fury senseless.

Any huge southpaw is always dangerous .Most fighters step it up when fighting tougher opposition which Martin will do . If Joshua wins easy he beat a bum if he struggles even a little he will be overatted .It'll just be the same old same old.

It is a no win for Joshua regarding his rep. However there is a title and a big wedge of cash to be earned.

My point was beating this guy who is ahuge southpaw will show Joshua can defeat all types of fighters. A martin loss will only prove he lost to the superior fighter which is also a smart play by him though ,hes not expected to win and gets a huge pay day anyway.,but the thread question does he deserve respect? My answer is more in line of what he brings ,hes strong, big and awkward.we wont know how good he is because hes fighting Joshua.if he somehow wins then it will tell you how good he is.

Sounds so obvious but lots of guys in boxing screw around in similar situations not striking while the iron is hot.

yup...make your $1mil, open that donut shop or laundrymat, call it a career...its like winning the lotto

Charles Martin is doing the sport a big favour that he wasn't forced to do and I think he deserves a lot of respect for that. He has shown that he has the heart of a champion and if more fighters did like him, boxing would be so much better than it is now.
he's taking the biggest money fight so how is he not thinking about money? he knows he has a good chance at losing to anyone so he's doing the smart thing and getting more money.

People here are weird. So you think Martin got no confidence and basically has realized that he is nothing and should just lose and get money while he still can? Yeah, I bet's that why he started boxing, to get beat up, get money and quit... LoL. Seriously, you people are judging him too harshly. I think Joshua will destroy him, but I don't think Martin plans on getting stopped. I think he plans on surprising the world.

Sunday Mirror Sport understands challenger, Joshua, 26, will pick up around £8m if he wins after negotiating a share of pay-per-view sales, with nearly a million expected by broadcaster Sky Sports.

A victory over Martin, who will himself earn around £6m for making his first defence of his title in the UK, is likely to see Joshua make two more defences this year.

I'll respect him if he beats Joshua or pushes him hard.

Champions should take on the best challengers around. They don't get any extra brownie points for doing their job.
