Comments Thread For: Barrera Regrets His Decision To Fight Pacquiao in 2003

Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera has revealed that he received a proposal to fight Oscar Larios in 2003. Barrera turned the fight down, because he saw Larios as 'a friend.' Instead of Larios, he was given the option of fighting an unknown up and comer named Manny Pacquiao.

I bet he regrets fighting Jr Jones even more. Worse loss, and lost the rematch too.

I met Marco Antonio Barrera in 2008 and he's one of the Mexican fighters I really respect. JMM was just ordinary w/o Peds.

Pacquiao was juicing back then and also compare how Barrera looked in 2001 against Hamed to how he looked against Pacquiao. In just two years he looked as if he'd aged a decade. His previous fights were hard and took a lot out of him. 2001 Barrera beats Pacquiao easily, just like Morales did before he turned to mush too.
