Why are American Boxing fans criticized for liking "black" fighters?

Yes and no. Sure I liked Tito when I was younger because he was Ricans but I was really won over by his killer fighting style and character. I liked cotto but as his career progressed I realized what a b1tch he was and the stories about his treatment of people in his community sealed the fact that I couldn't root for him. On the flip side I like Crawford because of his calm cool demeanour and how nasty he is in the ring. I think character and fighting style trumps nationality. It's not reason enough to like anyone, especially if that person is a ****.

I never understood the idea that if you are of a certain race, or country, and someone of the same race or country wins that somehow that is a feather in your cap. YOU didn't win ****. Some other man did. And the idea that you automatically go into a fight knowing who you will like or want to win based entirely on race or nationality is pathetic to me. I cheer for styles or just for good fights. Maybe a fighter has a personality I like. Whatever. But never in my life outside of the Olympics have I said "Is he American? Is he the same color as me? Yeah? Cool. That's my guy." Not once.

Immediately loving someone just because they're "American" seems even dumber than liking them based on their race. Most Americans have zilch in common with each other. Just seems like a copout.

What ever happened to nationalistic pride? I don't like Golovkin because it doesn't benefit me. And I don't like American trainers hyping a Kazakh causing drama towards an American fighter. That's my personal beef towards Team Golovkin. If they were more humble about things and didn't like a bunch of phags I wouldn't mind. I have been rooting for Andy Lee, Korobov, or Heiland to fight Lil'G because I want to see that Southpaw work. How does that translate to not liking white fighters?

Frankly, if Golovkin fought Froch or Chavez Jr. then I'll let the Brits or Mexicans worry about that and I'll criticize, but it's jack got to do with hating white fighters.

I think American boxing fans, second Brits, and then third Germans have the right to have mixed favorites because technically they're melting pot countries, same for Canadians...
