I never understood the idea that if you are of a certain race, or country, and someone of the same race or country wins that somehow that is a feather in your cap. YOU didn't win ****. Some other man did. And the idea that you automatically go into a fight knowing who you will like or want to win based entirely on race or nationality is pathetic to me. I cheer for styles or just for good fights. Maybe a fighter has a personality I like. Whatever. But never in my life outside of the Olympics have I said "Is he American? Is he the same color as me? Yeah? Cool. That's my guy." Not once.

Usually when a country backs up its own country for whatever form of competition usually has to do with nationalistic pride, not genetics... What is an "American" genetic? Native Americans?

There's nothing wrong with backing or being a fan of your nationality, race or hometown.

But that doesn't mean you need to be an absolute kunt towards fighters of other nationalities. And too many of the fans you refer to are just that - they hate on all the non-black fighters. That does NOT make you fan. That makes a fool.
