Too true. The vast majority of American boxing fans hated Lewis during the late 90's til the end of his reign. He had lots of critics saying he had a glass chin and that he was a boring fighter. The same criticism that Wlad faced later.

I liked Lennox quite a bit. He has some roots in Canada and I'm Canadian but that's not the reason I liked him. I liked him as a fighter and because he's a humble guy. The only other Canadian that I was a fan of was Donny Lalonde, haha. Bute and Pascal both had my interest but I was never really a big fan of either. Lemieux is another guy that looked to be an interesting fighter but I haven't really felt very compelled by the guy. So, while I like some of my Canadian fighters I haven't been a big fan of most of them. To me nationalism is almost as bad as racism. I don't root for a guy just because he's from the same country as me.

I'm a fan of boxing, I dont really care about a fighters race/nationality etc. I'm British but most of my favorite fighters are black Americans,Mexicans or Puerto Ricans. Of course I route for British boxers as well and want home fighters to succeed but what draws me into watching and routing for a fighter is always how well they can fight.

I try to like an equal amount fighters based on race/nationality/ethnic background so I'm never accused of being a racist or a bigot.
