Mayorga is training ver seriously for this fight (unlike vs Tito) and will pose a threat to De La Hoya. DLH is my favorite fighter active, but Mayorga can beat him.

i think the soft life has gotten to oscar, no matter how hard he trains for this fight he cant get back all the nights after the hopkins fight he spent not training, living la viva loca. Come May 6 or 8 w/e it is, he will pay for it. I know oscar is busting ass in the gym right now, but u cant just make up for a year or 2 of inactivity with furious training over the span of a few month.

According to Mayorga:

``I recognize that at one point that you were a great champion. But I'm going to prove on May 6 that you have nothing left in the tank. You remind me of an old lady that's past her prime that should be sitting home in a rocking chair doing nothing.''

I'm not going into detail about why I think "Mayorga stands a chance" because that's sheer redundancy.

I'd like to add however cheerleading for this fight is enough.

I'm shocked at the number of people who think Oscar could knock Mayorga out. It took Trinidad 8 rounds of nothing but power shots to finally put Mayorga down. I suppose if DLH goes to the body he could finish Mayorga off, but if we're talking headshots, no way DLH finishes him. My advice: GO TO THE BODY EARLY AND OFTEN, OSCAR. Soften him up for the late rounds.
