    Is Boxing Safe?

I'm not sure if this is the correct category within the forums if so please don't close the thread but move it to the correct category. -

Hello, I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on the controversial sport as there are always people who believe that boxing is a too dangerous of a sport as well other martial arts sports however I want to talk about just Boxing as a sport.

I wanted to ask a few questions regarding the sport and amateur boxing

Do you believe that boxing is a dangerous sport and it only exists solely on the purpose to entertain the audience for a few quid?

Do you believe majority of boxers only box due to the possibility of making a few millions throughout the career with a risk of long-term health issues or even death?

Where's your stand on the sport itself and do you believe there's more to it than just getting into a ring and trying to win a fight to make money?

Do you believe a lot of young talent ain't allowed to pursue their dream of becoming a professional boxer due to their parents lack of knowledge regarding the sport e.g. they ain't allowing their son/daughter do boxing because it's too dangerous?

If you people believe boxing is too dangerous of a sport why hasn't it been banned and explain why you want it to be banned?

P.S. I am a young 17 year old who is a passionate boxing fan and aspiring boxer, the reason why I've created this thread is to for research and opinions about the sport as am doing a documentary regarding the sport and am looking for your views as this forum is used by passionate boxing fans.

Boxing is an extremely dangerous sport. There is no argument that can say otherwise.

Totally safe. Many doctors, including the renowned Dr. Nick, have proven it with science.

Well, getting punched in the head is never going to be a 'safe' situation.

All things considered and the rate of serious injury, it's not as bad as some would suggest. It's dangerous for sure, but it's no more dangerous than American Football.

I can't blame parents for not allowing their children to take up boxing though, I don't imagine watching your child in that type of environment is a pleasant experience.

No. No it's not safe. I wouldn't recommend Grand Prix as an alternative however.

And good luck with your research, but the responses you're liable to get on NSB may not prove particularly illuminating. Still, there should be some humour value to be had which is never a bad thing.

Be like Rios - It's the most dangerous sport in the world

and that's the beauty of boxing.
