that like seeing a great college power forward player get a huge contract because of the fans, someone like tim duncan is consistent and gets you the W night in and night out

or a guy has one decent year, he and lebron are free agents but because lebron is old news the young guy brings in fans he gets a higher and better contract....its about who is winning and the best everywhere else when it involves compensation.

    Lebron would be friggin pissed.
Unfortunately in boxing, who's "better" is somewhat subjective and is generally decided by the fans. I get what you're saying about the working man's perspective, but then you should also apply it to fighters you're not a fan of.

Yea...that's the state of boxing tho.Very few are solely interested in legacy. It's mostly about getting big money fights...and to make that happen it depends on both your fan base and your opponents fan base. There are very few guys in the sport who can carry it on their own, and they're a dying breed.

[B]Ward has the better resume, is the more proven fighter....why should he make all those sacrifices when he hasnt had to weigh below 68 in years.

Kinda lame when his team said Froch, Degale and Chavez were ok at 168

they wanted to take a little out of ward because they knew a 100% Ward was gonna be a MAJOR obtstacle.

Sad thats what they do now....fight the decent guys at the full weight and try to drain the better fighters.

I can understand floyd vs Canelo or Pac vs Margarito....mayweather and Pac were waaaaay smaller

Ward has what...ten pounds on him naturally....Pac and Floyd did that regularly....mayweather fought guys 15 pounds bigger than he was fight night and still was stylin'
I don't ever remember them talking about DeGale

They were okay with Carl Froch and JCC Jr., because there is a lot more $ involved. Stop acting like $ doesn't matter in boxing. It always has, and always will, to every single ****ing fighter.

Ward is a smaller draw than Golovkin. Carl Froch, and JCC Jr., are both larger draws.

He's willing to give up physical advantages in height, and weight, against Froch and JCC Jr. Not Ward, because Ward isn't as popular as Golovkin is, as we see from his Barrera fight.

Even Ward knows this. He knows Golovkin doesn't want to fight him because he has been aiming at a fight with Canelo. Golovkin is doing what any other boxer would have done.

whether im a big fan of a fighter or not doesnt change my position on it bro

trust me....everyone has their favorites but I like EVERYONE to get treated fairly...they all have families to feed and if I've accomplished more than you, my check should reflect that

he wasnt willing to because the risk was higher than froch and JCC...Ward is just better than those guys...they have action styles and styles would be easier to deal with than SOG...money played a part as well as SOG embarassing him.

I can't get over how Abel totally dismissed Ward's chances against Kovalev.

I hope ya'll Ward nuthuggers support the guy and buy the Kovalev PPV in case Ward steps into that ring at the end of the year. Kovalev deserves some money and you guys can fund Ward's retirement.

I cant wait til this fight happens. both are legit elite fighters...this is rare nowadays...im leaning towards ward to win...im a fan of both, it would fund both's retirements actually...they are both past 30 and probably only have a good 4-5 years left at the top
