DBN exposes Kimas and Lomachenko

2 champs meeting at a catchweight. But yeah - maybe Rigo deserved more, however that falls on Arum, not on Loma or Klimas. As I said I didn't necessarily agree with Dontae's conclusions, but at least could agree that Rigo could have a reasonable greivance.Comment

Just because Klimas didn't divulge their cut to Dontae you assume that Walters' team don't know what it is? Besides - it really is simple - whatever the split, if Walters doesn't think it's enough for him he doesn't have to take it. I'd say $500k + a $300k sweetner is pretty good especially for the weightclass, but what exactly is the issue here? Is the problem really the purses or is it the 'ducking' allegations that so many posters here spend so much time worrying about?
Seems to me Dontae's just like most of the fanboys on this site, of any stripe, always ready to jump in and defend the honour of his favourite guys whilst overlooking or even justifying the same when the boot is on the other foot.
Ah well. Rant over. I'll let you boys get back to kicking your ball about.Comment

I'm not very sympathetic towards Walters these days because of how he didn't make weight against Marriaga. He killed all the momentum he had from the Donaire fight.
But it's pretty fishy how Klimas didn't want to answer the question of how much Lomachenko was getting paid. Good job by DBN of asking the tough questions, we need more guys like that who are willing to dig a little. Boxing journalists today are too lazy or outright scared to objectively investigate managers and promoters.Comment

Seems like it's Lomanchenko who is the diva, not Walters. Klimas gets caught in a lie and trying to use the same lie against Walters as they used against Rigo. Klimas and Arum are running around telling everybody Walters is asking for a million dollars but Klimas won't tell us what Lomachneko is getting. Why are we only hearing the Arum-Lomachanko-Klimas side of the story? When you read these articles you never see the writer say they reached out to get Walters side of the story. These writers are basically releasing PR articles for certain fighters and promoters.

They do. And getting blackballed by a promoter would hurt their careers. But the job of a good journalist is to be above that , they should always seek and report the truth.
It's does the boxing public no good if the media just become pawns of the promoters.Comment

I'm not assuming that Walters doesn't know what Lomachenko's pay is. It's a fact. Also, watch the video. Rigo's team state that Klimas wouldn't tell them what their pay cut was. I'm not really saying he's ducking or scared, only that he's avoiding fights where it's likely he'll lose.
Bear in mind it ain't Loma and Klimas who decide the purses though - perhaps Arum is lowballing difficult opponents or perhaps he is just offering what he feels they are worth - hell, maybe Dontae's right and he is simply racist, or at least sees more green in the white. Eiither way I'm not seeing how it's Loma or Klimas that's avoiding tough fights. Sure the 300k may be a piece of PR but if the offer's genuine - and it seems to be - I can't really see how you bend it to fault Loma.Comment
