Pac was a mess when Freddy got him. Firey and instinctual, but a mess. Freddy developed him into a more complete fighter and the changes are unmistakable.
Freddy also gave Cotto a new life in the sport.

If you look at Golovkin's old footage vs now, he doesn't look like a guy who needed serious coaching to get from there to here. I don't think Abe Sanchez deserves to be in the same sentence as Roach.

Just in a lot of people's eyes
So if I understand ur logic, if the fighter of a trainer gets beat, the trainer loses all is credibility? LOL. Not very smart

Has for OP, I think ur right but Roach did make some improvment in Pac. Yes Pac was already a champion but he had many flaws (not that he doesnt have any now). I think Roach helped him alot, but maybe another trainer would have helped him even better, who knows.

What Roach and Abel have in common, is the way they make their fighter look bad by the dumb sh{t they talk.

You add that Fredrick Lawson (another Abel Sanchez fighter) got beat on TV, and Murat Gassiev (another Abel Sanchez fighter) was getting beat when he delivered the late hit that voided the Isaiah Thomas fight, and his "accomplishments" get even shallower. Will give him credit for the work that he seemed to do with Samuel Peter, though.

Strip away all of the media fluff and Sanchez's only real claim to fame is his facility at Big Bear

Who can you earnestly say that Freddie Roach "developed", beyond Manny Pacquiao?

How in the hell can you call a guy that has trained a hall of famer and 14 world champs a "joke trainer"

Seriously, its like you gus think Abel just started being a trainer in the last few years or something

and talking about these trainers as if they know nothing about boxing, when they know more than any of us here is ******

why do people act like floyd woke up an all time great...if it wasnt for his dad and uncle he would be where he is today, yet any decent fighter's trainer gets credit
People like to talk down to Roger Mayweather, but they seem to also forget that Floyd is in the gym, grinding through his marathon training sessions, and sparring sessions with no bell, working on just about everything.

Floyd's likely worked on nearly any eventuality when he was in the gym ("keep doing what we worked on in the gym" would make sense; only time when things went real squirrelly were when he first fought Castillo and Maidana, both times finding out the adjustment once working through a few rounds).

I'm just speaking on what I see history is beginning to repeat itself....he helped PAC out but PAC was already champ calibre that can't be forgotten

                    I respect both

My point is Roach was put on pedestal like he is some guru

Everything he said was gospel...but in real life sometimes your right wrong or make yourself sound like a ****

Some of those trainer of the year came when others had better years

You can't force feed people how good a trainer is
Or fighter is...if they are great....time n results don't lie

Of course he diid. Respect Roach but the media put him on a pedestal while trainers in the era have had better overall results or better stables.... Ones they built the ground up

                      A lot didn't get recognised
