Ward looked good over the weekend, but he didn't look perfect. If Ward could have stopped Barrera then I think he would have said "let's go" for Kovalev to be next. I think if he wants one more tune up fight against another step in opposition then it makes sense.

I don't know if Adonis Stevenson is going to show up for either Ward or Kovalev here but I hope maybe he gets in the mix with either of them for further unification. Fonfara as well.

Ward is still Ward, I think he just needs to figure out landing his hard straight a little better. He's still immensely hard to hit and can blitz with his left jab and short hook all night to win rounds. That miiiight be enough to beat Kovalev but you have to assume he wants to come out better offensively than he did on Saturday for a fight with Krusher.

Also, I wonder if Roc Nation made him get that new haircut? l

The nice thing about this fight is that there are actually stipulations in the contract that gets this fight made. Ward and Kovalev have until the end of June to make another fight. After that neither one can fight anyone else until they fight each other. I wish HBO was as strict with their contracts with the other two fighters they have who can't get a fight made even though they're mandated to fight.

Having 2 lower-level tune-up's to adjust to a higher weight before facing a menacing champion like Kovalev is not unusual..... quite the opposite in fact, it is common-sense.

Why do you wish to deny Ward 2 tuneups, that seems more than reasonable ?

How many more tuneup's will Golovkin need until he is ready to face Ward ?

LOL That style of haircut has been popular in certain sections of the Bay Area. I see a lot of dudes at the gym with the similar cuts.

What youll fail to realize is Sullivan Barrera is probably more skilfull than anyone Kovalev has fought in the light heavyweight division and Ward wiped him out. What a complete fighter Ward is. The reflexes, the defense, 1st fight as a light heavyweight and scores a knockdown over a legit fighter. Andre is what a champion is all about, fights the best, shows class, and wins.

You don't actually believe the crap you just wrote! If Ward fights Kovalev the same way he fought Barrera bring a casket for Ward! Ward has 0 chance, period! He never had any pop at SMW and he still don't have s h i t at LHW! That flash knockdown of Barrera was by catching the guy on the top of the head and Barrera losing his equilibrium, simple as that! Barrera ate Ward's punches which btw Ward was throwing power shots each and every shot just about and still Barrera kept coming forward. Exactly. Ward with so little activity in the last few years and going up in weight to fight the caliber of fighter Kov is, it is only fair that he gets some tune-up fights. I was surprised he fought undefeated Barrera who had a long AM career before having one more fight. Ward hasn't lost since he was 12 years old. He doesn't fear any man. I met Ward, he is a good guy. I told him that he is like a Rubik's cube, very difficult style to solve.

Barrera probably stops Pascal at this point in their careers to be honest. Its tough to say with B Hop because you never know until a guy steps in the ring when its finally all gone (it sure looked like it was in his last fight). But Pascal didn't even beat Gonzalez in the fight before Kovalev 2. His last good win (and really the only good win of his career) was against Dawson in 2010. (Bute maybe, but Bute only had two fights at LHW in his career) But Pascal definitely is not some world beater today and never really was. Many of you "fans" haven't been following these guys all that long.

I agree 100%. I don't think B-Hop should fight any more. He looked really old his last fight.

They're Golovkin fans who used Kovalev as a boogeyman for Ward because they really thought there was no way Ward would fight him. They loved using Kovalev to say "why should Golovkin move up to fight Ward when Ward won't move up to fight Kovalev?"

Now Ward is doing exactly that and it is scaring the hell out of them.
