Well wrong question. More like who beat him better has a better ring to it?

So in order of who beat more impressively,

I have to say Pac was tactical, then Castillo then Maidana for his brutality. And honorable mention Delahoya was more like a draw.

I didn't check but how many from press row were from Castillo's home country and how many from Floyd's? I'm sure a few were from the Nevada press as well. Right? So imagine this was Press Row from Castillo's home turf. You think it would have been 50-50?

Like I said, most people thought Castillo won. Floyd fans thought that Floyd won.

cry for justice: Mayweather vs Castillo Part I

the deluge of emails has never been greater. Saturday’s controversial decision in favor of Floyd Mayweather over reigning WBC lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas clearly struck a chord with fight fans across the US and beyond.
The message was almost unanimous; Castillo won the fight and was cruelly separated from his title – Such was the incredible response, we will publish as many of your opinions here as possible. .

I was very disappointed at the decision given at the end of the night. I thought Castillo had fought intelligently and kept adequate pressure on Floyd all night. Castillo looked like JC Superstar stalking Floyd and ripping punches to the body. I hope we get a rematch soon and see these two great fighters go at it again. I would hate to see Castillo be avoided by Floyd and have him slip into obscurity - Hector Duarte Jr.

Floyd Mayweather Jr's "win" over Jose Luis Castillo was an act of thuggery on the part of the judges and whoever else that felt the green leather strap would look better around Jr's waist. Castillo did more than enough to ensure he remained champion. He out-worked and over-powered Peter Pan Mayweather from the fourth round on and imposed his will on the rapping vagabond, who seemed more content to run and preserve his pretty face for his next tacky photo shoot than to fight his foe. . It's funny how Castillo was effectively aggressive, took the initiative, and was hit less often than Mayweather, and he still managed to lose. –Darius, NYC.

Christmas came early for Mayweather. Castillo both threw and landed more punches while Mayweather spent a great deal of the bout on his bicycle. William Suddeth.

There is nothing to argue about. Castillo won, plain and simple. By the way, I was a Mayweather fan until last night. He should drop at least two places on the PFP list. - Pedro Mendoza.

I think the fight was close and should have gone to the champion. Don't get me wrong, Mayweather is a great champion, but I thought he lost the last four rounds of the fight. I think there should be an immediate rematch, but not in Mayweather's hometown of Las Vegas. The rematch will prove who really won the first fight. I think Mayweather will win the rematch. - C. Jackson, Elizabeth, NJ.

As the judges' cards were being read, I thought, 'I didn't think Castillo had won by that great a margin.' So you can imagine my surprise when the name Mayweather was attached to those lopsided scores. Robert Blake trial? - Gerald Lynch, Ottawa, Canada.

Mayweather lost. Plain and simple. He maybe won four rounds, but surely no more than five. Next time I hope he gets KO'd in two just like Zab Judah. (It's only a matter of time). -O.F., New York.

Mayweather's decision was about as bad as I have ever seen it get. When you have a fighter run all night, absorb a higher number of punches, as well as a higher number of power punches, never come back with a meaningful, hard combination, and yet be given a decision by a wide margin, all you can do is shake your head. If he had won the fight on jabs, there could have been something to talk about, but he was not throwing his jab. Perhaps the judges should be put in a public forum, asked to watch a replay of the fight, and then asked to explain their scoring round-by-round. With this supposed loss, Castillo has certainly gained the kind of cachet that accrued to Barrera after he was robbed in his Morales fight. By the way, Mayweather needs to come up with another set of excuses now. His 'I could have blown him away, but something was wrong with me' routine is getting awfully old now. - Jayant, Atlanta.

Floyd Mayweather seems to come out with every excuse possible when he performs in the ring. I think he's becoming another Oscar De La Hoya cry-baby. He got beat and, as usual in Vegas, he gets a gift. A rematch, which Castillo deserves, should be somewhere else, anywhere but Vegas. – Cobra.

I think what disappoints me most about these cheat decisions is that people clamour for a rematch, which is exactly what the money-people who are ultimately responsible for them want. . - Wayne Hopwood.

I am a die-hard boxing fan and never miss a bout. It's sad to see the business of boxing prevail and dwindle the legitimacy of a true win over a great Mayweather. I am always complaining that main****** sports is always turning their noses up at boxing, yet, with a clear robbery like this, I have to understand. It's sad. As a huge boxing fan, it's very disappointing. – Robert, Sacramento.

This decision was a tragedy. I don't say that in a dramatic fashion, but in a realistic one. First of all, the decision perpetuates boxing's image of an insider, star chamber, dirty sport. Second, the decision calls into question, again, the competency of the sport's judges. Decisions like this one permeate the whole scoring process. That's why, even before their fight, there were those asking "Will Castillo get robbed?". . - Luis Gracia.

This fight definitely proved that Floyd Mayweather is as overrated as they come. I had Castillo winning 116-114. - Chris Kyle, Bognor Regis, England.

Castillo was robbed. It's decisions like this that gives boxing a black eye. – Frogman, Wolfeboro, NH.

It never fails; the judges always seem to go with flash over substance. They did it with the Hagler vs Leonard fight with the Camacho vs Rosario fight and the list goes on and on. It used to be that you had to completely beat and or dominate the champion to win the title. But now all you have to do is run and smile or jeer at your opponent. It is very sad that in a sport where the participants give their all, to include their blood, sweat, and tears; that the results should be tainted by three pompous, ill-qualified and blind individuals. - Melissa Irizarry.

What happened was one of the worst atrocities devaluing the sport I love most. Jose Luis Castillo lost the first two rounds and arguably won the rest of them. At the most, Floyd could have won two more of those rounds. Castillo pressed the action, worked the body, and landed more punches every single round since the second. All Floyd did was wince after taking double left hooks to the body, move backwards, and throw marshmallow jabs. Jose Luis Castillo is a stand up champion and he deserves more respect than he received from those tennis judges who tallied the rounds. - Scott Aston.

The numbers were right on target, but the judges gave it to the wrong guy. The four or five point victory belonged to Castillo. The name fighter won last night, but the fans know who really won. I want to see a rematch because it was a very interesting fight. - Tony Cassello, Chicago.

My wife and I watched the fight together and we were both shocked at the decision. Castillo clearly won the fight. He won his rounds convincingly. That predetermination has unfortunately given boxing another black eye and makes it appear that fights are fixed and that the best man does not always win. - Jay Caballero Austin, TX.

Mayweather is a terrific fighter, but he did not win. Castillo got off to bad start, but I think he did more than enough in the second half of the fight to take the decision. Also, I think the scores were correct had it been the other way around. I would pay to watch the rematch, but maybe that was the whole idea. - Victor T Mcallen, Texas.

Boxing gets another black eye. What a disgrace the decision was. - Chris, Canada.

After viewing the Castillo vs. Mayweather fight, I feel I don’t want to watch boxing any longer. I feel Castillo won decisively. Let’s not forget Castillo was the champ and Floyd didn’t take the fight to him, as a challenger should. . With decisions like this who needs to watch fights? Just announce to fighters and pick a winner the way they do it in Vegas. Wake up people, the mob is back and the fighters don't have to take a dive any longer now the judges take care of it. - Alfredo Balandra, West Covina, CA.

I watched the fight and there is no way that Castillo lost that fight. Even in Mayweather’s corner, they knew he was down in the cards. I just don't see how that happened. - Jose Rodriguez, Grand Island, Nebraska.

I'm a recent fan of boxing over the past four years and what hurts the sport are these ridiculous and unfair decisions. Castillo clearly won the fight. How can the judges give a wide and unanimous decision to Mayweather. Over the past years, I've seen a lot of unfair decisions. I'm a sports fan, but I think I will eliminate boxing on my list. This sport is a corruption!!! - Eyriel Lomboy.

Castillo won the fight clearly. He could have become a legend, but they just had to screw him up. . - Samuel Rivera.

Poor job by the judges on this one. . - Brian Hayes

Castillo was taking it to him for sure. Floyd was in a dog fight that night! It was close, real close. I enjoyed seeing Floyd tested like that. Agreed, Mosley did hurt him the most, but Floyd has a chin!! Khan would have been comatose as if Allah himself had bombed on khan!

Wasn't there 5 well known boxing pundits who recently rescored the Castillo vs Mayweather Jr. I fight, and all five had Castillo pulling out the win, although a very close one?

Anyways, Castillo vs Mayweather Jr. I was a close loss by Mayweather. I had Castillo winning by like a round or so. Of course, it wasn't Floyd at his best, but a loss should still be counted as a loss. Unfortunately, many of his fanbase deny it and are biased as **** when it comes to scoring his fights.

Just the normal press row and media.

You've give examples of people who thought Castillo won. That's great.

Like I said there's also many who thought Floyd won.

Press row, the media were split.

I did think Castillo won his first contest with Mayweather.

Maidana made it a scrappy and competitive fight, but I thought Floyd prevailed in the second half.

ODLH, while conservative, made it a very close fight the first half, then seem to run out of gas, and/or keep up with Floyds adjustments.

Pac, Mosley and cotto, outside of a few moments or rounds, really weren't on the same level as floyd as the fight progressed.

Canelo was completely overwhelmed technically, and had a very bad fight plan to boot.

btw, blows my mind when people refer to floyd as a ducker, this is just a small portion of his resume, its pretty impressive!

Seeing Canelo outfoxed and out boxed was not expected.

PAC, Mosley and Cotto did their best.... But... It want enough!
