Yeah, I just read a quote from Eubank Sr. saying that Booth was trying to teach Eubank Jr too much but Sr. thought he his son was a 'thoroughbred' and that he is already trained you just need to control him or some BS he is going to limit his sons growth.
Shame because Eubank has great physical gifts, quick hands, a chin, strong, stamina. His feet are a bit slow. Booth would have helped far more than Sr.Comment

Eubank Sr is the only worry I have about Jr's progress.
Sr knows about the promotional stuff and won't allow Jr to be treated like someone's property. I have no problem with that.
However, Jr has made huge leaps as a fighter in the last 18 months. He's gone from just fighting like a raw powerhouse when fought Saunders (still had that fight a draw) to an extremely physically gifted fighter who was now using his skills under Booth's tutelage. I wish they had kept that work going.Comment

Well yeah, kind of right. But there is also the argument that you perform to the level of those around you. Eubank is surely good enough to be fighting at European level and I'm sure in his heart he doesn't much care for the British title.Agreed
I dont see how its hard for people to understand Eubanks decision
They want the British MW belt, hes British and wants to win the title in his own career of which his father never did.
Furthermore once hes at world level he has to fight boxers like Jacobs, BJS, Cotto and GGG. Eubank Jr is really just a novice with 1 meaningful fight.
Fighting Blackwell makes sense for his development as a fighter, people dont understand fighters learn from camp to camp, from opponent to opponent. Hes young and if he cant beat Blackwell he has no business fighting at world level yet.Comment

Do you have the link for that interview I'd be very interested in reading it I think getting rid of booth is a massive setback for jrYeah, I just read a quote from Eubank Sr. saying that Booth was trying to teach Eubank Jr too much but Sr. thought he his son was a 'thoroughbred' and that he is already trained you just need to control him or some BS he is going to limit his sons growth.

anyone know what sort of viewing figures channel 5 boxing usually draws? if it's anywhere near what haye drew on dave then i'd say this is good exposure for eubank jr. blackwell's not a bad opponent either; presumably eubank aims to fight three times in 2016 so it's not as if it will stall him too muchComment

Exactly. Great post. This is another good learning fight for Chris. World title can wait, he's only 26 FFS.Agreed

Thanks for that, I used to think Sr was just on the wind up and behind the scenes was sensible with Jr but now I think he really believes the stuff he says. He did improve under Booth Sr should have saw that. leaving Hearn was another big mistake too. I could see a big fallout between the two if it doesn't work out tonight by the way sr handled everythinghttp://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/1438...n_t_be_tamed_/
what a shame
Eubank Snr needs to take a backseat in the training department
Its clear that his son needs to take his game to the next level to compete at the upper echelons of the MW divisionComment

What a dumbass article by Warren. Guys take a step back all the time in boxing. This is a step back, & its not even THAT much of a step back, for a lesser belt, but this isn't a RJJ vs a fan or whatever. This is a perfectly fine fight for Eubank to be taking at this point. This whole article just comes off like Warren is upset there isn't a BJS vs Eubank II fight going on this weekend or to try to build some back n forth to get that fight happening later this year.Comment
