Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Scratching Head Over Eubank Jr. Career Decisions

WHY is Chris Eubank Jr fighting for a British title this weekend when he could be in action for world honours? It is a decision that continues to baffle me. The Brighton-based basher could be taking on WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs or WBO king Billy Joe Saunders.

Frank is right, he's going for the British title because he (or hid dad) doesn't want the rematch with Saunders. Poor advice either from his team or his dad, I suspect it's his dad being overly cautious a la Angel Garcia's coddling of Danny.

Broadly sensible article until he touted Kell Brook vs Liam Smith.

Whilst he's correct that Kell needs a massive fight it more exposes the limited viable options for Liam.

Promoter: why isn't this fighter choosing to make more money right now instead of perfecting his craft so that he's truly ready for the big fight?

Lol... promoters man. Always after the quick dollar.

          Agreed
I dont see how its hard for people to understand Eubanks decision

They want the British MW belt, hes British and wants to win the title in his own career of which his father never did.
Furthermore once hes at world level he has to fight boxers like Jacobs, BJS, Cotto and GGG. Eubank Jr is really just a novice with 1 meaningful fight.

Fighting Blackwell makes sense for his development as a fighter, people dont understand fighters learn from camp to camp, from opponent to opponent. Hes young and if he cant beat Blackwell he has no business fighting at world level yet.

Eubanks will always get a chance at world honours so Blackwell is a good test now. Eubanks has always progressed slow so Blackwell isn't too bad people wanted to see Blackwell and eubanks for a while now.
Eubanks only recently fought 12 rounds so is moving in right direction. Nothing wrong with British title.

He wants the British before it's too late, it's pretty simple.

He will then go for Jacobs and a Saunders rematch, although Saunders has been talking that fight down recently, he knows Eubank will beat him up in a rematch.

It's only Eubanks second fight with Booth (if they are still together who knows). He has stuff to learn, he probably needs another 2-3 learning fights because he really needs to learn how to stay champion even if he won.

Edit: Looks like Booth and Eubank Jr. aren't working together anymore, big mistake.

I was surprised Booth initially took him on, he must be the goods if everyone is so high on him. Shame that they split, Booth would've been perfect. Bet it was daddy Eubank causing trouble.
