I think it's clear that GGG's primary motivation is to clear out 160 and get all the bouts. He was willing to drop a few lbs for a huge $ fight with Floyd; and he was willing to go up for good $ vs Froch or Chavez. I don't think the big $ was there for a Ward fight at 168. I could be wrong, but he's not a big name despite his success. Why move out of the weight class you plan on staying in unless it's for big $? GGG (or his trainer - I don't remember) said some things that appeared hypocritical, but I understand the planned career trajectory

And just when we think Floyd couldn't possibly say anything dumber than he already has, he blasts through his own threshold of ******ity.

But i hope Wade fight is good. Never seen him fight but then again i didt know Lemiuex still fought and never saw the now "retired" Monroe either.

That's one thing good about GGG he shows me guys I've never seen fight
No, I really didn't - but now I do. Seriously, though, how did GGG drop the ball? what fight was available that he didn't take

None i guess. There was no other fighter available other than Wade.

So glad he made that offer to 1 fighter.

He knows like most of us already do that GGG/Ward is probably never going to get made.

Abel & Loeffler are already terrified of Ward. If he now successfully transitions to 175 then they definitely will never make it. Plus if Ward beats Kovalev then the perceived odds of GGG beating him plummet to the point where most would not even care to see it.
I don't know about terrified. Not sure why some boxing fans always have to talk in such extremes - this guy is scared...that guy is terrified.

We are talking about the best in the world. I guarantee GGG isn't afraid or terrified of anyone.

That said, I think GGG's management realize that the risk/reward is very disproportionate for this fight. It's a fight that Ward would probably be favored to win. He's the bigger fighter, better boxer, better defense. I give GGG a shot, but it's a very tough fight. yet there is not huge $ for it. If that fight gets made on PPV, what does it bring in, 300k buys, 350k.
If Ward was in the same weight clas, then I'd be killing him. But, I never understand the criticism for a fighter not taking a fight against someone outside of their weight class. Just like for Floyd, anyone that criticizes him for not fighting GGG, who is 2 weight classes bigger, is just a hater of Floyd and will look for any reason to criticize.

            • Danny Garcia is the best option for Floyd AND Pac. Look at the guys hes defeated vs the guys the other top WWs defeated...Garcias top notch.

can't you have a rational conversation? That's not what I'm saying. Obviously, Wade wasn't the best available but he's mandatory for IBF and GGG wants all the belts - which I get, to an extent.

But honestly, even though there are better fighters than Wade, can you name a fight at 160 that should've been made instead. They tried to make it with Saunders, who didn't want any part of it. Canelo didn't want it; we know Cotto doesn't. Seriously, who could he have fought that would've been alright in your eyes

I can be very rational but with GGG nuthuggers it can be difficult, not saying you but a majority. And as for the fight I don't care if it's a mandatory for a belt that doesnt mean crap in todays boxing landscape. he's 34 years old, has no big fights, no names, no legacy, and should be trying to be great and chasing a big fight. if you cannot get one then you go find one. instead he's sitting back waiting, begging and wasting his time. And thats ok cause its his career

                    • NO Matter What Garcia's Record Is, He's Fought & Beaten Nobody At 147! Guerrero/Mags?

Let's see if Swift can handle Thurman or Porter or Brook or Bradley or Provodnikov. Swift, like Khan, hasn't accomplished jack at 147. Floyd on the other hand had his chance to fight GGG and he balked at the idea; in fact his dad said no, and that GGG was too big. Gennady even said he'd come down to 154 for Floyd only. Ward has nothing to do with Floyd & Gennady fighting. Just smoke & mirrors.
