Lol!! He had a good promoter to get the chance, but some probably thought it was too soon for him to face a HOF fighter who was 38-1-1 with wins over a slew of too guys. Most fighters would have lost and had to pick up the pieces.
This is one of the most remarkable things about his career, in his 18th fight he fought the world champion and a HOFer and he's been fighting champs since then. Most fighters wait until about their 30th fight to step up like that. Heck, GGG still hasn't stepped up to fight a hall of fame fighter.Comment

I see people here talking nonsense about Golovkin being handled titles.
Using that logic, I want to know what did Floyd Mayweather jr do to get a chance for the lineal 130 lb title against Hernandez. At that point Floyd had beaten all bums with no record. He was 17-0 and ALL were bums. But real bums. Look at their records. And don't talk to me about him looking special in fights cuz so does GGG. And don't talk to me about having a great amateur career with a medal at the olympics cuz do so did GGG.
And then some of you ****** Mayweather fans have the balls to say that Floyd wasn't handled anything... that he had a rough path. Then what about GGG? Tell me another joke please you ignorant fools!
The biggest joke on this page is a guy named Maxi!Comment

This genuinely might be the dumbest post I've ever seen on this site in nearly ten years here. Truly. Did you get help with this post, because this is just painfully ******ed and takes a special talent level of idiocy.
First of all...GGG didn't win his title in a title fight, against a champion. All that **** you spouted is complete tripe that doesn't matter. That's why people say he was handed a title. Get it?
Listen again, slower this time. GGG fought a guy that wasn't even ranked to become an Interim champion, then fought another unranked bum, who was 14-2-1, and was given the title for that fight. He never beat a champion in the ring to earn his title, he didnt beat a top contender to get his spot, he didnt beat a former champion, he didnt beat a future champion, and he didnt beat a current champion. The level of fighter he beat to be given his title, handed the WBA title, is the same level of fighter Floyd beat to be given a shot at fighting an actual champion to earn his championship.
GGG didnt earn his title, he was given a title for fighting unranked fighters who weren't even contenders. Floyd fought an actual champion to earn his title. Your entire premise stops here, because you are wrong. One earned his title, and the other was given it.
You're focusing on something utterly banal that you can't see the forest for the trees. Floyd beat the best champion possible in a proper title fight. GGG didnt beat anyone to get his title. He was given his title without ever fighting any champion or even a top contender.
That's the definition of being handed a title. He never fought to earn a title. He was handed it without ever having to fight a champion to get it. The guys they beat to get their shot weren't special fighters, but Floyd had to step up and fight an actual champion to win his title, while GGG won his against the very guys that were hardly good enough to even earn him a shot, let alone give him a title for beating them!
The funny thing is that you are whining like a little ***** on who Floyd beat to earn his shot, rather than the fact that he actually got in with a great champion and had to win the ****ing fight to even get a title, whereas GGG just gets given his title without ever beating anyone ranked in the top ten, and you're focusing and having a whinge about Floyd 'earning' it? Grow a pair kid and think for yourself!
The guy that Mayweather fought before getting his shot, Tony Pep, a long time seasoned veteran, was a better fighter than the guy GGG fought to be handed his title.
Mayweather earned his title in the ring, against the current lineal champion and consensus top champion at 130. That's not being handed a title, that's being forced to fight the very best guy in the ring for it, and you either win or lose. Which lineal, consensus ranked champion did GGG fight to earn his title? Oh yes, he didnt! He was simply elevated to champion, without ever having to fight a champion, or even a ranked top contender for it!
This is about the best example possible of bias turning you into an imbecilic muppet of the finest variety. I'm impressed mate.Last edited by BennyST; 05-30-2016, 12:37 AM.Comment
