Watson is famous for the Benn fight(possibly still the finest performance I have seen from a boxer,I might add),but he never used the peekaboo style outside of that fight. When he used to fight on BBC he thought he was Muhammad Ali,smart mover who tried to mimmick Ali moves. When he was a late substitute for Herol Graham to fight Don Lee,the dangerous switchitting American who Herol was supposed to be fighting in a WBA world title eliminator,nobody gave Watson a chance in hell. Only then he did stand and trade and show worldclass skills,before the Don Lee fight Watson was very ordinary. He gave McCallum everything he could handle,but was never the same after that beating. Really,outside of the Benn fight(which like I say was probably the finest display of tucking up and counterpunching I saw from anybody),Watson wasnt anything special and never used that peekaboo style.

wot about eubank/watson 2 ?? eubank says that watson was almost unbeatable that night, the closest thing to superhuman that eubank has ever known in a boxing ring. eubank had 2 almost kill him to stop him ! watson did'nt look 2 good in the first eubank fight until eubank got tired, but that was more 2 do with gettin 2 grips with eubank who had the most unorthodox style in boxing

i would'nt put winky in mike watson's class. watson was special imo, benn was supposed 2 blast him out of the ring but he put on a pure boxing masterclass in a classic rope-a-dope shown across america. before benn's losses to watson & eubank he was the most talked about fighter in america, just read the ring mags etc they could'nt believe a brit could be so awesome, he was the most sparkling fighter in the business. watson gave mccallum & eubank a run for their money in world middle weight title fights, winky would not give a prime mccallum or prime eubank a run for their money imo. then watson was out of this world in the second eubank fight, before tragedy struck

Felix Trinidad is a better fighter than Benn or Eubank ever were.

Hatton is more skilled than Calzaghe. Hatton is one of the most skilled fighters I've seen, and if you disagree that he's extremely skillful then I suggest you leave this board because you haven't got a ****ing clue.

And Tszyu was lb4lb #1 going into the Hatton fight, according to many.

Yeah that was Don Lee, Manny was working his corner.

Lee was the most dangerous and avoided middleweight of the early-to-mid 80's.
A young Gerald McClellan was in London, working as Lee's sparring partner (this was actually before McClellan knew Manny Steward, before he joined the Kronk).

Eubank had the potential to be better than any Felix Trinidad. But the Benn fight took almost everything out of him, and the Watson fight was the final straw. He was only in it for the money after Benn I, and even more so after Watson II.
